Correct. It was dropped in mid-January.

I'm excited. Plan on going to the first games here in Edmonton.

Same. I'll be making the trip up north a few times this summer.
Edmonton International Track Classic, FIFA World Cup and FIBA World Champs!
They are definitely turning into the summer sports capital.

Got my tickets. Taking my daughters to the June 6th game.
So pumped. I think Christine Sinclair is one of our country's best athletes of all time.

Yes, we should do a group buy and book a bus for the trip.
...AND rent a house on AirBNB for the night

Can't wait to go on June 6! Women's soccer is a real treat, especially if it's Team Canada live. The crowd is going to no doubt be hot the whole game.

I love the lack of diving in the women's game.
Granted, they aren't as fast, strong or skilled as the men's top tier, but the diving in men's soccer has rubbed me the wrong way over the last 10 years. Being of European descent, soccer is ingrained in your culture, but My God has the diving gotten bad. I'm just growing apart from it. Much like basketball.
Hopefully Sinclair leads Canada to the title. That would be great.

As long as US doesn't win the World Cup, I am happy. Can't stand that Hope Solo.
BTW, is she playing? Wasn't she suspended when she beat up her cousin or something?

She is indeed. She was suspended for an incident after that (fight with her stepson). Earlier this year, she was in a team vehicle with her husband one night during training camp, who was driving under the influence. They got pulled over by the cops. Solo wasn't charged with anything, but she was suspended for 30 days by US Soccer.
I can't see the Americans winning this time around. The team is very much the "old guard" with Wambach leading the way. There's a lot of tension with that squad this year given what happened with Solo and some recent comments Wambach made to the NY Post ( http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/24/sp...itle.html?_r=0)
There's a lot of parity in the world of women's soccer now. Germany is the favorite. Japan and France are always dangerous. The US team is obviously strong, but they aren't the strongest of the bunch.

you guys want to do a Women's World Cup pool? Could pick teams and have a snake draft with 6 people. I could come up with quick points system.
So I need 5 victims volunteers

yes! That would be fun.
And I need to correct something I wrote earlier, Solo fought her nephew and sister, not her stepson. Regardless....

Here's a quick point system. (Each player will have 4 teams)
Group Stage:
If your team wins the group you get 4 points
2nd in the group: 2 points
3rd in the group: 1 point
last in the group: 0 points
Win Round of 16 match: +3 points
Win Quarterfinal: +6 points
Win Semifinal: +9 points
Win 3rd place match: +3 points (3rd place matches are crap)
Win Final: +12 points

I'd probably be in for some sort of pool. Looking forward to watching the tournament, but haven't decided yet if I'm going to catch a game in Edmonton

I went to the Fifa Womens u20 last year and it was awesome. In a way, because they are not as strong as men means they have to be more creative in generating scoring chances and it leads to some amazing goals. Highly recommend.
I'd be in for a pool too.

I'm driving up to Edmonton for the June 6 game and hanging out in the Voyageurs section. Should be a blast. Hotels seem to have been booked solid for a while now so that may do my liver and wallet a favour.

I'll play if there's room. I just found out I'm headed to USA/Sweden in Winnipeg so I may as well follow the tournament now so I know what's going on. This pool will help.
