Why move either? The combined caphit of Erkisson and Smith is higher than Seguin's.
You are allowed to have 3 great centres.
Trade Chris Kelly who's got a $3m caphit.

Seguin isn't much of a playoff performer. The Bruins miss Nathan Horton much more.

Horton won't play another game. Seguin is the league's top scorer

What was the rumored package the Flames offered again, or were asked to pay? Baertschi plus what else?
As much as I believe in a rebuild and keeping those types of assets. What could the current team be like if they had a guy like Seguin as the top line center? Granted no guarantee that he'd do as well in a fishbowl like Calgary, but in terms of talent...you wouldn't mind that. He was good enough to get Dallas to the playoffs last year.

you mean when he was playing 4th line playoff minutes in Boston?
he's a legitimate top center in the league now, chances are he will be for the next 10-12 years
any team would miss him

I get what you're saying but lets not forget the stud he plays with in Jamie Benn. He comes to Calgary, plays with who? Glencross ? Not exactly the same.

The reason the Bruins are declining is because Chara is getting old. The return for the Seguin trade only looks bad because Eriksson, who had been remarkably healthy and consistent in his tenure with the Stars, ran into serious injury problems with the Bruins.
The problem is that managing the cap with an elite team is extremely difficult. And to some extent, you have to go for it when you have that window of opportunity, even if it means decline after the window closes. The teams that have managed to sustain elite caliber play for multiple seasons (the Hawks and Kings) are the exception.

LOL you can't say the Flames should be patient with Baertschi and then roll out that line. The kid was 20 years old and you simply can't expect him to blend in with the veteran culture instantly. It is what is is in a lack of patience and willingness to develop him into their culture. It's a terrible deal and there's no other way to spin it.
The problem with the one two punch of Bergeron and Krejci is that neither of them is a dynamic offensive forward. The are both more of the two way variety which is great and all but their top two enters are a 50 point guy and a 60 point guy while Seguin by 22 has already have a season that neither of those two will ever replicate. The Bruins should have moved one of them instead as Sequin would have come around and right now they could really use a dynamic forward as they really don't have one.

Seguin has more goals than the bruins leading points getter.
This will turn into an epic bad trade.

Horrible trade for Boston. Most knew it the second it went down.. Seguin will be atop the league for the next decade. Should've given the kid more time to mature, he was a young party animal. boo hook

I think Boston is getting a little full of themselves with the "Boston Way".
No one is mentioning this but Chara looks like he's dropping off a cliff.
Also, Boston is the slowest team in the NHL.

He hurt his knee playing hockey not rock climbing. last year was considered for the norris, had 17 goals 40 points. I certainly would help him up to play for the flames.
