For those counting, we've now had 2 questionable Comets hits in the first 10 mins of the game.

Ya! I am really happy we drafted Poirier. Even happier than I was the day we drafted him.

Reid with a couple of smacks at the puck in front of the net but no go.
Team is working together. Cundari steps up to make a hit, Elson drops back to cover the point for him.

End of 1st Period
1-1
Shots on Goal: 12-3 Flames (apparently the shot clock is acting up. AHL.com and shot clock keep changing)

Its funny I was just going to ask you how Poirier was looking tonight and bam goal as soon as I refreshed. Good to see him back on the scoresheet.

As am I. Truth be told I had never even heard of Poirier when they called his name. I was sure we were gonna pick Shinkaruk. I remember thinking, 'What did we just do'. I have to think a lot of Flames fans were thinking the same exact thing. Flash forward to today and I could not be anymore more happier.
That 2013 draft class is going to be special--and not just Calgary, but the league as a whole.

I didn't think the slump would last too long. He is only on game #13 of his professional career so having a 3 game slump isn't too shocking. He kept working hard during it, maybe not as noticeable as other games (or perhaps others stepping up and overshadowing him) so it was just a matter of time.

Wotherspoon with a great defensive play to take away the net from the Comets player.
Ortio follows that up with a nice save of a very awkward shot. Looked like it bounced, went in front and then almost got pushed in.

Flames still looking for their first SOG of the 2nd period about 4 mins in.
They've been playing more defense in their own zone.

Ortio with another huge save. Turkubot 2.0 has arrived. The first goal was not an indication of his night.

Gillies: Offensive rushes, defensive blocks and hitting people cleanly.
Maybe PMM was right earlier. Well partially right. 70pts might have been a little out there.
Gillies has been adding something to the lineup since returning from his suspension.

Flames take advantage of a Comets D with a broken stick and rush up the ice.
Hanowski shot it too high over the glove. So close.

Flames started to push their way through to the Utica zone. More time being spent there then defensively.
