I'm all for players playing past their expiry date if they love the game, and clearly Brodeur does. But there's just something sad about seeing a legend like him claw around like this looking for work. And the thought of Brodeur not wearing either his Devil's or Canada jersey and wearing something...blue is just a gross thought. I would like to see him get 700 wins though.

Not hating on him coming back. Hating on the fact that I may have to cheer for him on the Blues.
He's my favourite player. There are certain teams I want favorite players to be nowhere near. Blues are one of them. Was hoping Blue Jackets.

I can't stand Brodeur. He alone made me hate the Devils. I hope he gets let go once Elliot is healthy again.

So when Fleury tried to come back with the Flames a few years back we all cheered for him, and now Brodeur wants to continue his career we are telling him to get lost?

I'm always amazed when people call for a guy to retire. He's done it all. Maybe he wants to keep playing because it's damn fun. Once it is over, it's over. There's no going back. So if he wants to keep it going, in any role he chooses, good on him.

Play for fun if you want but al least have the ability to recognise that maybe your skills have declined enough that no one is interested in your services. I'm amazed he held out this long for an offer.

Nothing is sadder than an athlete who is done, but doesn't realize it. Of course Marty can do what he likes, and he can spend the rest of his life begging to get back into the NHL. And maybe the injury to Elliott is his ticket in.
But that doesn't mean it is unfair to suggest that he should retire. Or, if he wants to keep playing, hook up with an ECHL team or go senior AAA and just play for the fun of it.

He thinks he can still play in the best team in the league. And the Blues may agree. Nothing wrong with that

Im all for players playing as long as they are able, but when Broduers' time as a Devil came to an end, he should have hung up his pads. He is literally clawing around for a goaltending job just so he can collect a few more wins. Him playing more will just continue to diminish his status. The only thing that will potentially go up is the wins. Just seems like a shame that a legend is doing this. Maybe when no one wanted him in the off season or at all this year that was a hint?

I think he settled and ended up paying way more than 50% to keep things private and out of the news
I believe he is now married or engaged to the sister?

He stinks though. At least a guy like Chelios could play a bottom pairing role effectively into his 40's. Sure he was no longer a top pairing guy but he could still play an effective role on a nightly basis. When Marty plays and you watch the highlights it makes you feel sad for him as it's kind of pathetic to see a guy that has accomplished to much look like a bad AHL goaltender. Reminds me of when the Flames signed Grant Fuhr and Sutter couldn't even play the guy by the end of the season as he was getting embarrassed out there.

It's telling this is "invited to practice" which is less, as I understand it, than even a PTO.
I understand wanting to play. But he's gone from "I think I can be a starter on some teams" to knocking on the Habs door trying to replace Tokarski (fat chance) to "can I practice with you guys?"

there is really no such thing as a PTO during the regular season in the NHL
you have to be signed to an NHL contract to play in a game (only exception is emergency backup)

Wow, haters gonna hate I guess...
You can call him old, you can call him no good, you can call him washed up, you can call him a has been, you can call him anything you want. You don't Matter.
The St. Louis Blues called him to come "practice" with the team. They matter.
