Fortunately the team is doing well. Backlund might not put up the points but he's a definite positive, hopefully he heals fully and comes back strong.
One thing I noticed is when he gets in the scrums and contact situations he extends his arms out up high leaving his abdomen and shoulders incredibly vulnerable. Needs to protect himself a little more.

You're right. For some reason I thought it was his back.

if Jones is ready to go tomorrow and no one else gets put on IR, Flames will have to send someone down to stay at 23 man roster

Coin Flip Sven or Knight to go down when Jones gets back. Odds that KNight stays over Sven because of FO's?

Or Setoguchi because he's been completely useless.

Yeah, please put Seto first. Sven hasn't been that good and I'd rather he stay for a bit longer. Seto has well and truly had his chance, not taken it and should be the first in the queue to head to Adirondack.

since Seto didn't hit waivers today (sigh), have to imagine that Sven goes back to Adirondack if Jones is good to go. The Flames really need Knights FO talents and having Sven on the 4th line against Anaheim is a waste anyway. Makes more sense to have Bollig - Knight - Bouma on the 4th line, with McGrattan and Setoguchi in the press box.

I'd keep Knight over Sven. Both will play limited roles but Knight might have the ability to provide more in that small role at the moment. Knight's also 24, time for him to show what he's got at this level, don't know how much development he has in the AHL.

I think Setoguchi will find his way to Adirondack eventually, but sending Sven down makes more sense than Setoguchi. The organization would rather have Sven playing in the AHL instead of sitting in the press box.

I really wish we could see just a period of Sven on that top line in place of Bouma and Bouma on the 4th... if nothing else, being on the first line to open a game could give a guy like Sven a bit of a moral boost before the puck even drops.
I know he hasn't earned the right to be on the first line which is why it would be a trial. Have Sven and Monny had a chance to play together this year?

One constant with Monahan outside of a few even strength shifts where he has played with Gaudreau is his wingers are big. Glencross and Jones both have size giving Calgary a first line that can physically match up with the big boys in the west. That is why I think Bouma is there now and unlikely we see Sven get that shot

Abdomen injury. Not sure on the specifics but could be a tear as he needs to simply rest and not do anything for it to heal.

Well that would mean being completely sedentary. All exercise uses your freakin abs. Mikael Fatlund when he gets back.

I think it would be difficult to have intercourse with an ab injury. Do you become celebate until its healed?
