I've held back saying this team is a legit playoff contender only because we haven't really played the big boys of the West. To come out of this swing 3-2 and not look overmatched would be a huge step towards being a legit playoff contender.

On top of that, Baertschi is finding his game and will soon no doubt be getting some powerplay time. He adds some great depth skill to the team right now. That pass he made to Byron was unreal... On and off his stick instantly and it landed perfectly on Byron's stick at top speed.

Then you look at Monahan... Wasn't on the scoresheet but had a great game again last night. He's become so strong on the puck and he's shutting down other teams' top lines. Will be a huge test for him against the beastly top lines of the west over the next few games.
That's the same type of pass he made to Monahan last season. It wasn't a saucer pass like this one but it was fast and right on the tape. What got me was he only made a couple moves with the puck before he passed it Byron. I don't think anyone, or the Sens was expecting it. Not too many guys can deliver a puck the way he does.

The young guys have been great. Jooris has shocked me the most and I have been pleased with both Granlund and Sven's play. At this stage I don't see how Granlund is not on the team permanently. I think waiving Seto is how that spot will be created. The thing is if Sven continues his play along with Jooris a trade may need to be made to keep these kids in the lineup

I couldn't agree more, I think we are in a position where we could end up trading for another high caliber defensemen.

Just because we win on game against a California team doesn't mean we automatically become a playoff team. It goes the the other way as well, if we lose, it doesn't mean we are not a playoff team.

Of course... he's alluding to breaking the curse in Anaheim the Flames have had for the past 10+ years.

Thumbs up Next five games a good challenge for the Flames

Yes, it will be a tough challenge but the Calgary Flames squad are playing tremendously of late. Even without any guarantees about the consequences of each upcoming game, the fact remains that players are playing with steadfastness; an aptitude to win and never letting go. No matter who scores and each player is working collaboratively to achieve an optimistic result. It is tribute for the coaching staff to have such exceptional players in their team. Hats off to the Calgary Flames!
