this si canada and there are two things that are scared cows and should never be forced into a dramatic makeover in a short period of time - socialized medicine and HNIC

It takes a lot of ad time to recoup 5.2 billion dollars.

I'll get right to the point because I'm tight for time, I'm not a huge fan of the changes see but I am part of the "if it aint broke" crowd. Hows the time are we out yet? Why are we tight for time? A part of the "if it aint broke don't fix it crowd". Of course nobody likes the stools and the wierd cameras. And one last point before we're out of time, Strombo will probably get the hang of things once the 'culture' of the interviews are established, it is just too new at this point. Thats it folks as they've cut down my time.

Like I said, I defer judgement on the panel and their content, as there will be adjustments and growning pains. I just hate seeing Healy's and Cox's socks.

I really like Sunday's "Hometown Hockey" hosted by Ron Maclean.
Sunday feels more like HNIC then Saturday's broadcast.
I miss Andi Petrillo at the Idesk.

I don't mind Stroumboulopoulos.
I really disliked Ron MacLean though. He's the only guy in the hockey world that can interview Gary Bettman and come off looking worse and less charismatic. Those annual all-star interviews were embarrassing to watch. MacLlean always came off so smug and petty IMO.

One thing that CBC did exceptionally well were the video montages and compilations. They were stunning and were always able to bring on emotion and draw the audience in. I can watch those for hours.

Yes, I don't think I have seen any of those this year on any of the Rogers Broadcasts.
Fire Kypreos & Healy.
More warm fuzzies.
Then you will have a winning formula.

Strombo cuts his hair and throws on a suit rather than trying to be a san fran hipster, he gains a few more fans.
And kypreos with a stick in his hand and dress shoes doesnt work.

As with anything like this, you have to ask the questions, who was survey'd, what was the method they used. All of that bias' the poll and the type of respondants you get.
Got to give credit to Ron though, his responses were very well thought out. At the very least, he knows how to play the game and say the right thing at the right time, he came off very supportive and humble.

The montages were done by a guy named Tim Thompson. You can view a lot of them on his Youtube channel.
Here's an article talking about the montages under Rogers.

Strombolopolous looks like a sketched out stoner. Can't stand him. I don't watch any of the filler stuff so I'm not going to comment on it. If people have such big issues with them, learn to PVR the game and skip it all.

I thought I was the only one that didn't like Maclean. I never blamed Bettman for acting like Maclean was asking dumb questions, because he was. Then again, I'm not as anti-Bettman as most people - I'm like Rob Kerr in that.

I'm not very surprised by this poll, even the article sums it up as people resisting change. I think they've been doing a pretty good job so far.
Strombo is doing just fine, and he will get better with more time. Is he as good as MacLean with 28 years experience on HNIC? no, and if you expect him to be then your expectations are seriously to high.
Kypreos and Healy are both idiots who need to get less camera time(or fired), but Healy was there before before this year so he's not the result of Sportsnet.
Has it been a flawless transition? absolutely not.
Has the quality dropped from from last year? Yes, but it's really not that bad, especially considering they've only done 5 weeks this year .

Strombo seems pretty tentative, he should challenge the panelists when they say something particularly goofy. Why Sportsnet chose to keep Healy is beyond me.
I don't particularly enjoy the post-game segment with the home town kids. It drags along and the 3 star selections are painful. I miss after-hours, sometimes that was the best segment of the broadcast.

One thing that is never mentioned in these things, is what was the satisfaction level with the previous program, and then how does this compare. I don't recall ever seeing a poll, but I do remember plenty of folks complaining about Ron, complaining about Don, complaining about Healy and the panel, complaining about the set up and production value etc....
Now that's it's changed, they are doing the same thing, but now it's getting packaged up as do they like the new product because it has changed.
Some things you can always count on:
1. People are resistant to change
2. And people like to piss and moan and talk about what they don't like, regardless of whether it's new or not, or whether it is better or not than what used to be there.

I find the coffee desk setting & the standing in the middle of an empty set talking somewhat awkward. Which is because they are former players now commentators, not stand up comedians. Put them back behind a desk so they are at least comfortable and can talk about the subject instead of thinking what am I doing with my hands...

What was Healy's comment? I must have missed this, something about Gaudreau right?
