SP - meh, paint by numbers CoD campaign, Spacey makes it better
MP - I like it, the new weapons feel great and I like the exo stuff

I dunno about consoles, but on PC the AW at the bottom right when its loading stands for "Advanced Waiting" I think. Holy load times.

Yes -- it's under 'Classic Playlists'

Great news. I think the jumping looks pretty neat, but if I end up hating it I'll want to have some playlists without it to fall back on. Thanks!

On an HDD or an SSD?

SSD, I don't even want to think what it would be on a regular HDD.

It's got an option called "Preload Shaders" where it pre-loads all the shaders for the level to smooth out gameplay. Actually maybe I'll try turning that off and see if the shaders loading during the level cause any problems, with an SSD it might be fine.

There's another option where you can preload the shaders while the cinematic plays, which helps but makes the cinematic hitch-y.

Ah so it has a shader system similar to Natural Selection 2s renderer, which is also well known for taking a millennium to load a map.

I tried disabling the shader preloading and it's much faster, and I didn't notice anything while playing.

Really impressed with the multiplayer so far! There's just something about shooting someone out of the sky!!

For the older gamers like me, do you share this guy's feelings about multiplayer on this game. I have felt this for about 5 years now so I can't even imagine the new game.

But also to add to this, I prefer a slower paced more thinking multiplayer over run around like morons at breakneck speed, this kind of multiplayer has never really interested me even though I do play it once in a blue moon.

I'm in my 40s now and I am finding the high twitch FPS becoming too fast for me. I enjoy them still though because a group of buddies get together in party chat, get 5-15 k/d ratios while trash talking each other about who is worst of a bunch of #### players.

When I'm playing alone- give me a FPS like Battlefield where I can fill a role, contribute to a victory and sometimes lead the scoreboard but have barely had to pull the trigger. Much more satisfying as my hand/eye and reflexes fade.

I really like to sit back and pretend I'm playing Duck Hunt? Sit there and pick the jumpers out of the air. It's great fun.

Yeah the jumping was what bothered me most, and now with the new game they doubled down on jumping more so that kills any interest I have in the game, will try the single player though, always enjoyed those.

I'm not a fan of the jumping at all or the shields or the exo-stuff in general. I'd really love it if they put out a great world war style call of duty where strategy in multi-player returns and the option to be a sniper isn't hindered by small maps and no perches. It's not that the game is too fast paced as I've been doing okay so far with it, it's just that it feels the only style of play you can succeed at is a run and gun. With previous iterations you could choose multiple styles and win.

I can't remember the version but there was a multi-player map a number of years ago that was set in winter and had a base in the middle and off to the side had a ladder leading way up to a tall sniper platform. Whenever a good sniper got up there it was a full on battle to get him out of there. It really added a neat dynamic to the game and a great sense of accomplishment when you finally fought through his team and then punted him out of there.

Probably Array from Black Ops 1.
That was a good map, and my favorite COD.

I just picked this up, and I have to say, it's nice that they allow you to play the campaign while waiting for the entire disc to install.

Right off the bat, the guns feel so much better than ghosts.
It's definitely going to take some time to get used to the double jump and dash movements though.
