3 times as bad as the POS.
Because the NHL is contemptible with in regards to supplemental discipline, and the NHLPA is contemptible as a union in obstructing supplemental discipline designed to curb on ice infractions and improve the safety of their membership.

3 games is a joke. No wonder we keep seeing players make hits like these, the punishment is minimal.

3 games is more than I expected but I am not upset with it.

I am happy if this is going to be the new trend and first offenders see more than a slap on the wrist. If they really are going to take these blind side hits seriously, injury can't matter and if you keep doing it then you need to sit for a long period of time.

Glad Emelin is okay. Burrows should know better and let up long before that hit.

Considering that prior to this a player with no history wouldn't even be suspended for a play like this, it's a start.

Maybe, but you can't just change precedence now. The only way to put more teeth into it is to change the whole process, which would need both sides involved.

And 3/82 of a paycheck is quite steep despite what people say. If you make $100,000 a year, $3,500 is a lot of money

That's the rub, if they can't do anything to make these types of hits receive harsher penalties then there really isn't s huge incentive to stop doing it.

If it was borderline, fine. But a late, blatant hit to the head should start at at least 5 games, and probably more.......first time offender or not.

I don't get this mentality though. Unless it is a cba thing which most of these aren't, the nhl can unilaterally change the criteria that constitutes longer suspensions for on ice infractions.

It's not like high hits haven't been penalties for years at this point. Certainly late hits as well.

This has happened before. An incident is not called a penalty but it becomes a suspendable offense. How is that possible?

Refs miss things during the game.

The NHL will be a better league for the next 5 days or so.

Finally! I can't wait to hear the term "repeat offender" used after his next act of ######baggery.

Was that quintal doing the video explanation? I love how he sounded angry about just about everything to do with the play!
