In Edmonton's 27 place power ranking it should read: No Good.

No need to elaborate beyond that, we all know why they're No Good.

Drance is a Canucks fan boy, doesn't surprise me at all.

I think Cullen's is typically the most objective.

I'm sure this has been posted somewhere but here's Burnside's he has us at 12th Oilers 27th.

How in the ####ing hell does he actually think that is okay? We're near the top of the standings and trending up, the Oilers are near the bottom and are no good yet he has us in 3rd last place?

This why I can't stand "die hard fans" of any team. Rationale goes out the window (including Flames die hard fans. Nothing gets under my skin more than ridiculous bias).

Before criticizing the rankings, does anyone know specifically what sort of formula they use?

I don't know about the formula for The Scores ranking, but I'm assuming it involves finger painting and play-doh.

I put this in another thread, but people don't seem to realize that the purpose of a "power ranking" is not to actually give you any information of value. These features exist to cause people to view the webpage, and therefore, view the ads that generate revenue. Their ranking systems are almost always made up on the fly and are designed to piss you off so you will be sharing them, thus causing other people to look in on the page and therefore see the ads.

What is so hard to understand, they give each team a value based on that teams power, and then organize the list on a smallest to largest basis......power rankings are the #1 way to rank teams

I've always liked the Sagarin Ratings.

Anything done in ASCII wins in my book.

Thanked the post, but to clarify:

Thanks for the link. I had the page bookmarked, but the cat threw up on it some of my bookmarks got toasted during a browser update. I really like Sagarin's methodology.

Funny that the next best goal differential is Minnesota and the team with the exact same record as ours, San Jose, is 7 and 8 respectively. But we are the Calgary Flames though so its super funny that our goalie fell over, that in itself should easily put us right around the 27-28 mark... clowns

You should ask him if he's even watched a Flames game this year. He'll probably lie, but I'll bet you he's seen one or two of the nationally broadcast Flames games.
