Can't argue with that. Didn't get the win, but rebuilds are about the process and there's not too much to be disappointed there.

Less stupid penalties and we'd have had a real chance in that one.

Props to Jooris

Russell quietly playing great so far this year. Imagine how good he'd be with a real d-partner

I feel it's better to be a great third period team than a great first period team. Flames just need to suck a little bit less in the first. Other than that, I can see a big push after the allstar break out of this squad. once the kinks get worked out, this team could be a dark horse.

What sucks is when the team really stinks up a period it's generally an appalling lack of effort ( or Wideman, man he's making me hate him this year! ). This lack of jump is something we almost never saw last year.

That said, we got a horrid schedule and coming out of it at 50 is about all we can ask for. Hopefully once we get home we can start seeing 60 full minutes of hockey, and as a result, some success to go with it.

Also, bench Wideman. Forever,

Columbus should deserve a little credit tonight, they're actually a pretty good team. People don't talk about them much but they're decent.

Also our veteran forward group has to be the worst in the NHL. If not, 2nd worst. Those 3-4 guys are pretty brutal. Our radio pbp guy (Wills?) was really harping on them big time which I thought was sort of refreshing, not just blindly being a homer guy like Loubardias can be at times.

This is a question I've asked a number of times... Aren't there any stupidly over paid young players we could take a risk on? The cap floor most certainly shouldn't be such a factor to this teams development!

It's maddening that it took 2 periods before the Flames decided to play hockey.

Very entertaining finish to the game, just too little too late.

Tough, long road trip to start the season but the Flames really need to pick it up in the 1st period. Happy they never gave up though and battled to the end.

Also congrats to Jooris for his first goal and a solid first game!

I would absolutely love to see them try Monahan, Jorris and Gaudreau put together as a line and given 2nd line minutes.

All we need now is for Jooris to be the 1v1 challenger.

Exciting finish to the game and I'm glad they didn't give up after they were down by 3.

Grats to Jooris on his beauty goal

Yup, Jooris and Gaudreau had good chemistry in the preseason, from what I remember, and we still haven't had a chance to see Monahan and Johnny together other than a couple of PP turns.

This team doesn't know the word quit, and I really really like it. That was an incredibly entertaining game.

With an assist tonight, TJ Brodie now has a career high five game point streak going. #Flames

I was disgusted by the game. Sure the last 5 minutes were great. Vets are here to teach the youngins how to become hockey players. I hope the youngins never watched the vets tonight.

Those first two periods was some of the worst hockey I have ever seen. We could not make a single pass. Ugly hockey and we got pushed around all over the place.

Jooris looked awesome. You cant have a better first game!
