In all seriousness, I kind of hope he ends up having surgery. It seems better to get this out of the way early, have him fully rehab the injury without the chance that it will be latent down the road.

Too bad for Bennett, but in the long term it is better for the Flames. Get him fixed now and let him play late in the year in Junior so he is fully ready for next season. It actually is a better situtation than what happened with the Oilers young guys in that he wasn't in a position on the Flames where his absence actually hurts the team.

Hopefully he gets the surgery and heals up enough to make the World Jrs team.

I think the comments made by Hartley indicated something was pretty bad when he was saying "I wish he told us about this earlier".
Very unfortunate, but there's no real pressure on him to rush back right now which is good so hopefully he can just take the time he needs and return to junior when he's ready.

Dr. Krieger can give him Bionic shoulders to help out with those pull-ups...
Oh wait....have we made the 'pull-up joke' already?
Also yes.

By the sounds of it he came into the draft with that bum shoulder (hence the lack of pull ups) and now it looks like he may have pushed it too much. Get the surgery and get that wing to 100%, because clearly he will try to go through the wall regardless of his condition.

What's the medical process like in the pre-draft process? Can teams have their own physicians check out prospects?

Poor kid. Hopefully he can recover quickly enough to get most of the OHL season in, and maybe even the World Juniors.
Too bad we won't get a game or two to see him in the NHL regular season. At least we won't all be arguing over whether he should be in the NHL or not.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
In any case, Bennett not likely to be playing for awhile and he won't be a consideration for Canada's national junior team.

That's bad news.
I was hoping they do send him down to junior this year. Missing a few months is well worth it if surgery reduces the chances of future problems. Will slow down his development by a year though, since even when he comes back, it will take him time to come up to speed down in the juniors

Curious to hear more about this injury then. If it's a condition/knock he's had for a while, I wonder how it wasn't flagged.

Easy target on the pull-up jokes but as someone who has struggled with a torn rotator-cuff without surgery and through rehab that lets me sometimes feel good and sometimes have no strength, that could be a legitimate reason for the zero pull-ups at the combine.
