Hit no but meant to vote yes. Not sure how it's even in dispute.

Or people have different definitions I guess.

Define what you think is tanking...
Tanking would be having prospects in the farm that are ready and not being called up and playing mediocre guys, or having mediocre prospects up.

For example, if we were playing Ortio and Carr in net all season, then that would be tanking.

We just suck and most of the kids, while skilled are not quite ready yet.

They aren't tanking. I voted yes just for fun though.

They'll still be in most games this year.

This. This is exactly what I think too.

And yet the kids were ready the last 20 games of the season.... basically the best quarter season the Flames have played over the last 3-4 years..... especially the best last quarter since before Bouwmeester.

so losing Cammy (who did #### all until after the deadline) means the team that finished what 30 points up on last is all the sudden tanking on purpose?

What would they have needed to do to not be tanking in OP's view?

Flames had 2 turrible GMs in a row over a decade, can't clean that up overnight

No.
It would make more sense if the OP defined tanking for us.

Not tanking

but for a team that believes they have a 0% chance to win the stanley cup this year, developing young guys rather than signing veteran FAs theoretically raises the possibility of winning the Stanley Cup in future years

Winning the Stanley Cup is the ultimate goal, if you need to focus on player development for a few years to improve your chances down the road it's the smart course of action, that's what I would say the Flames/Sabres etc. are doing

I don't think they're tanking, but I don't think they're putting a lot of effort into getting significantly better. At this point in the rebuild, with a lot of kids looking close, I would rather us wait a session or two to see what we have, and what we can part with to fill potential holes.
No need to spend assets right now when our young talent needs a season or two in the minors to grow.

kids can't all have top minutes in the NHL

what is wrong with having young guys in the AHL, that is how the good teams do it. They are all in the US though and fans don't go ape#### when a young guys starts the season in the AHL. Wonder why a canadian team hasn't won the cup in over 20 years? I don't, fan and media pressure is just too much

We wouldn't have signed Hiller if we were tanking. There's no easier tank job then having a poor goalie.

Why not put the young prospects in the AHL and let them develop the right way together. What is the rush? If all young prospects made the team that to me would be tanking. If you put them all in the NHL and they get beat down every night like the Oilers...then what?? You get a losing mentality.

Other teams play all their kids. Flames fans accuse them of tanking.

Flames play veterans. Flames fans accuse them of tanking.
