As a Bruins fan I am stunned that the Bruins dragged their feet so long resigning Krug, but just glad that is done.

The Schultz comparisons made me lol. Great example of people "making it work" on a team they want to be a part of

I doubt it has any effect on his demands, he can sign with 30 teams, these two could only sign with one team. That kinda diminishes their leverage.

Why are you stunned? Krug was looking for a good payday (but was an RFA/wasn't offer sheet eligible) so he really didn't have much to go on. It wasn't the Bruins dragging their feet at all.

Krug and Smith were not RFA's who could sign a contract with anyone other than the Bruins.

They were RFA's who could not receive offer sheets.

And what team in their right mind would give four first rounders for a one time 30 goal scorer???

A team would give in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd range or the 1st, 1st, 2nd, 3rd range, imo.

Exactly. Johansen holds more cards then Krug/Smith.

My point is no one would offer that. An offer sheet for Johansen is not happening

You could probably find your answer merely a few posts up. I mean the Oilers did give up a first, second, and third round pick for a player with zero 30 goal seasons (Penner). Surely they wouldn't mind making more dumb deals if they so chose to.

As Street Pharmacist pointed out, on the surface RyJo (saw that name and hated it, so I've decided to call him that until his demands fall back to reality out of spite) may technically have more options, but the reality is that his expectations have effectively cockblocked himself with every team other than the Jackets

Out of thanks, wish I read that post prior to my last reply as I'm sure team "Action Packed Down Lowe Mac Attack" very much consider themselves as a viable destination for him.
That would actually be perfect,as the BJs are a team I am fairly apathetic toward. Seeing them draft top 3 for 2/4 consecutive years at Edmonton's expense would neither anger me out of pure hatred (Vancouver, Chicago) or leave me full of guilt for enjoying the fact their future looks bright.
In fact, I hope Edmonton goes so far as to not risk angering him by challenging his comparison to Kane. Then pays accordingly.

Depends perhaps on their feelings about barn fights. A close shave last time
