If you already have a guitar and a play station 4 or Xbox one I would look into the game rocksmith 2014. I've been using it and in a short time I went from a very meh player to being strong on my chords and able to play without looking at the guitar. It automatically adds more notes or takes them away as you begin to improve or struggle too much. Plus there's mini games for many different techniques.

My favorite female guitarist is Jess Lewis who was shredding years ago and then became more of a jazz player.
