Well you are wrong because some of us have already stated we won't buy a jersey with advertising on it and we won't get over it. 100% my ass.

Sorry, what I meant was that advertisements should no larger than 50% of the front jersey team symbol size. The team logo and colors should always dominate, and the ads should never overtake the design of the jersey.

I like how it is done in the CFL with the small patch on the front of the jersey, you know it's there but it's not in your face. It sounds like it would be larger than this on NHL jerseys which I don't like the idea of but does seem inevitable.

Good point - CFL is already doing this, and we hardly notice.

If this does eventually happen, I wonder if it will put more pressure on teams to wear jerseys in their traditional team colours as opposed to the ever popular "black" home and "white" away silks.

It's not all bad news; I'm so bored with every team's jerseys now featuring the same dominant colour.

120 m is not all that much when the entire NHL revenues are concerned. I'm glad they are saying no.
But soccer jerseys are 90% text. "Samsung", "Vodophone", "Unicef" or whatever. Some of them have a small logo beside the text but thats it. They have become part of the uniform and honestly I think they are just as classy.

As for people not buying them? Bahaha. I bet Manchester United sells more jerseys than the entire NHL combined. People will always buy them. Hell I bet almost everyone who is reading this has just as much if not more clothes with logos on them than clothes that don't.

I would flat out not buy one. If you think that everyone would cave and buy one then you need to give your head a shake.

I would not buy a jersey with ads on them, and if that merchandise didn't have ads but the jerseys the team wore did, I still won't buy a jersey that my team isn't going to wear.

thank god. I'm so tired of it here in Europe ... they don't look like hockey jerseys anymore, just advertising pillars. It's become ridiculous, even in smaller leagues like here in Austria:

how will this impact fake jerseys??????? Because in all honesty, I'd rather wear a fake jersey than those with ads all over them.

It's these types of situations when I wish I had more money than I knew what to do with. I would open a diving school in Vancouver and advertise on their jerseys.

I will agree that the soccer unis incorporate the logo into their jersey, which makes it better than just some patch that's not even close to team colors, but come on, those logos take up the predominant part of the jersey. When I didn't follow soccer much (and didn't know what AIG was) I could never understand why ManU would have a big AIG acronym across the chest.

Whether people can live with it or not, there's no denying that they are 100% better without them.

"Okay"? I don't know. More like "resigned" to it. If (when?) it does happen I am sure it will be bothersome at first, but ultimately, I don't watch the games and expend a sizeable portion of my time and energy out of some bizarre aesthetic commitment to how the Flames look in their uniforms.

Hockey is hockey. More importantly, NHL hockey is NHL hockey.

I was gonna say, I'd rather purchase a Chinese knock off without ads than an authentic jersey with ads plastered all over it. A fake McDavid (or whoever) jersey it'll have to be.

The fact that they're releasing the numbers attached to this comes across to me as prepping the fans for this change.

BTW I'm arguing that you would buy them if they were like soccer jerseys. Not Euro hockey jerseys. Those are dumb. Do people even buy them en masse in europe like we do here?
