He is one of the greatest boxers and has had a very successful career. He does appear to have some significant mental and psychological issues though.

Haha what? So I should only click on threads that include names of people I admire or am in agreement with? Guess I should stay out of all of the political threads with "Harper" in the title.

I'm not sure I understand your point. If this were a thread about Sean Connery reacting to an interviewer asking about his past history of violence against women, would his past history not be relevant, especially in response to people declaring how "awesome" he is?

So what? If someone posts an interview with Graham James, wherein the reporter asks about his history molesting young boys, would it not be a bit tasteless if one of the posts was "Graham James is awesome," regardless of whether they're only referring to his record as a junior hockey coach?

Don't care about his opinion... don't click threads about him.

Maybe "care about" was the wrong phrasing. I don't get the hero-worship of the guy.

The point is you didn't/couldn't be bothered to ask what the poster thought was "awesome" about Tyson.

You jumped right to the "facetious" rapist comment.

I am also not sure why you think jokes about rape are funny.

I couldn't be bothered because to me, there's nothing that great about Tyson that supercedes the ####tiness of him being a rapist. Put the name of any other famous, convicted rapist in the discussion and then add an "he's awesome" addendum to it and tell me it doesn't sound completely distasteful.

Yes, if there's anything my recent posting history suggests, it's that I think rape jokes are funny. Nailed me dead to rights. Nice to see you making use of of Chrome's new "Jump to Conclusions" add-on.

Hero-worship? He's one of the greatest boxers of all time. Much like Michael Jackson... who went through a lot of legal BS and trouble, you don't get why people worship MJ?

Well the one key difference being that MJ was never convicted (and no I that doesn't mean I don't think he did it). Really, if this was an interview with OJ, would you be like "Man, he's awesome. Great football player and Naked Gun was amazing?"

Are we supposed to forget or strike any and all achievements from the records because the person who accomplished the feats ended up doing or saying something wrong?

But you could be bothered to flippantly comment......

I opted for that instead of the condescending jerk add-on, although good to see that one works well too.

You know I actually agree with and have many of the same view as you, but to be honest your delivery is piss poor.

I assume this is in reference to the rape charge. The only people who know what happened in that hotel room were Tyson and Washington. You don't know, I don't know.

The court of law does get it wrong on occasion. If you found yourself in the situation of being falsely accused and convicted, would you show remorse? I'd be screaming for justice from day one of the trial until my last day on earth, let alone apologize for something I never did.

Tyson believes he did nothing wrong that night. If he's wrong, then he's a monster. If he's right, then he got screwed. I don't understand how people on the outside-looking-in can be so certain of these things and passionately defend one side of the story. That's a blind faith in the justice system that i just don't have.

This wasn't him flipping out because someone said he was a ####ty fighter. He flipped out because he got asked about his rape conviction which, as I mentioned, I don't believe he's ever shown any remorse for. And the response was "He's awesome." What kind of response does that deserve in your opinion? If I had said "He's a convicted rapist. He's not that awesome," do you think the rest of the crew here would've reacted any differently?

He's never showed remorse because he has always stated he did not rape her.

The alleged victim in that case had already made a false accusation of rape once before, who says she didn't do it again?

And Mike Tyson IS awesome.

I guess we will never know will we.

I am starting to see that it doesn't always matter what my/others opinion is........
