How was the Spartan?
I am running it Saturday in Dead Rear.

I was pretty well prepared for most of the obstacles, but I wasn't prepared for the amount of hill running there was. Up and down steep hills a few times, and had to carry the 40lb. sandbag down and up one of those hills. That killed me.

So who rocked it this weekend? Our team got it done in just under three hours. I guess a week of training paid off!
Best exercise event ever! Will absolutely do it again next year and recommend for anyone else!

Ditto. Everyone on my team made it through and had a pretty awesome time. We ran on Saturday and then promptly went to McDonald's apres beer, which was full of other runners haha.
Highlights for me: Mud mile was challenging and really fun. Everest was sweet. I couldn't believe how much Arctic enema sucked.
Lowlights: I'm disappointed that they didn't have the funky monkey obstacle. Wondering if it was the first ever tough mudder to not have it?
I ran it, then flew to Montreal for work the next morning. Not gonna lie, I'm a little bruised up right now in the hotel.
I'm already thinking about which tough mudder I want to do next. Awesome time. Would recommend.

Heard the founder on Bloomberg the other day. They are in full milk mode now and more people doing these than marathons. Next they will be coming out with shorter version and a girls only event where you have to be a girl or invited by one. Don't know how many times the guy said it is a challenge not a race. Not a race = is that tough enough?

Highlights for me was the slopes on the running, the Mud Mile, Everest, and the amount of support you get from other Mudders. Really makes the race better when strangers are cheering you on.
Low points were the recycling of wall obstacles, the small swim space for Arctic Enema, and the amount of muscular Delta Bravos running shirtless who are clearly there to be obnoxious. Otherwise, the event was run well, the weather was awesome, and felt like a million bucks cross that finish line!
Also, the Electroshock Therapy felt like getting punched lol

It was pretty fun! We went in a team of 5, but two of the members didn't really train for it. So, to be 100% honest, I wasn't challenged at all just walking the course, and the obstacles were really easy especially when you are completely rested for them. Still, as long as you're with good people anything is fun!
My camera survived pretty easily and it wasn't too big of a deal, and got some great photos. I thought that there would be more official cameramen on the course. Maybe I just didn't notice them, but I didn't see any of my group in the photos posted on the facebook so far. Wonder if they'll post any more.

Depends on what you are looking for I think. The course is completely doable for a wide range of people of differing fitness levels if you take your time and use team work. You could really make it as hard or as easy as you wanted by running solo or trying to go fast. Some people ran the course twice for example. I personally could've got through all the obstacles myself, but that's not the point. The point is to help those around you who maybe can't. For example, after I got up Everest, I helped my team get up and then some of us stuck around to help others. Lots of instances like that. You have hands offered to pull you up at every obstacle.

Yep, that is what Will Dean was saying is that they are trying to take things corporate and get companies to use these as team building/bonding challenges. Apparently very safe events and 40 times safer than triathlon and anyone can do them especially as a team.

It wasn't as bad as I thought.
My time was 1:44, which put me 42 in my age group (I am old).
The only fail I had was the rope climb at the end, and by then my shoulder was totally ####ed.
I reckon if I actually train for it and have two good shoulders I could knock off 25-30 mins.
I think I might also run the Mudder next year as well.

Question for you, how did you get your ranking? Were you doing a timed race during the Mudder?
Second question, you finished it in 1:44???

I was responding to The Goon, who did the Spartan Super. That race is timed.
