Default Driving from Calgary to Vancouver

My wife drove it last month and it was 12 hours door to door for her. If you've never done it be prepared to be blown away and delayed by the scenery

There's a funky Siding cafe in Field we usually stop at

I really enjoy the drive to Vancouver and generally take my time to drive it.

My only advice would be to fill up with gas in Abbotsford or Chilliwack before you get to Vancouver. The difference is 10-15c/L.

Thanks for all the tips! Looking more forward to this now, going to leave at 5 a.m. tomorrow morning. I just wish I had a Flames jersey that said Canucks Suck so I could stand in front of that big Canucks sign at Rogers Arena.

You're about a month to soon to see the Adam's River salmon run near Chase.

Just did the drive this weekend. 10:15 each way door to door, just a quick stop for lunch and gas. Kamloops and Hope have the cheapest gas on the trip.

The cocquihola speed limit is up to 120 so you can truck through there. Even from Kamloops to Golden isnt as frusterating as it used to be as they are slowly twinning it.

There is bridge construction in Glacier that will slow you down a bit

Beautiful drive.

Shouldn't take more than 10 hours unless you drive slow and/or stop lots. Especially with the coke being 120 limit now.

Check the driveBC website before you leave, if there's accidents or closures it'll let you know.

Enjoy it!

I've done the drive so many times now I've lost count.

One thing I would add is if you don't mind adding an extra hour to your drive, take the number one all the way through the Fraser Canyon and avoid the Coquihalla. The scenery is WAY better than along the Coquihalla and even though it is primarily only a two lane highway, there can be less traffic since most would rather save the hour. Enjoy the drive!

I love the drive, always have a good time. Lots to see and do.
I once did the opposite direction in a hurry, made it from Vancouver metro to south Calgary in 9.5 hours. Pretty proud of that.
I couldn't do it in my little car now though.

Got here a little bit ago. Took me about 10 hours with a stop for lunch/gas. Not to bad especially with the time change. Figured I only used a tank and a quarter of gas as well. Drive was amazing, so many awesome views! The 120 speed limit is awesome by the way.
