I voted for Joe but I really like Plett too. I went to a game in Vancouver with my Canuck fan brother in law and Plett just owned the Canucks. He did anything he wanted and no Canuck would look at him sideways. Scored a couple of goals too.
1415 games
630 goals
612 assists
1242 points
+152
45 Game-Winning Goals
Career shooting percentage of 17.6%
Won the Calder Trophy
Two 50-goal seasons
Team Captain
4-time All-Star
1st All-Rookie Team
Won the King Clancy Memorial Trophy
Stanley Cup Champion
Joe Nieuwendyk was a beast and will always be my favourite Flame.
Not to be nitpicky...Those aren't Nieuwendyk's stats as a Flame. These are:
GP 577
G 314
A 302
P 616
+/- +135
It appears you've listed his overall career numbers, including playoffs.
Anyway, I voted for him because he was always one of my favourites while he was a Flame.

Who did Nieuwendyk play with in the 2002 Gold Medal Team?
I remember Gagne - Sakic - Iginla
... And I think Kariya - Lemieux - Yzerman??

On paper, Nieuwendyk should win this quite easily and he probably will. Since it was argued that moments in sports are big then I had to re-evaluate my vote. I honestly cannot remember one significant goal that Joe scored. Sure he had many and I remember he scored 50+ goals in his first two years and he was the last Flame to score 5 in a game but there was never any goal that stuck in my mind over time.
Plett on the other hand did have that type of goal. It was the first year the Flames were in Calgary in the first playoff series. The Flames franchise had never won a playoff series in their entire history in Atlanta. It was game 3 of a best of 5 and the Flames were up 2 games to none and game 3 went into double overtime. Lemelin was awesome for the Flames this game and I always wondered why he was replaced by Riggin in the next round.
Willie Plett, late in the 2nd OT, went up the wing and just blew a shot from just inside the blueline past Tony Esposito to win the Flames first playoff series ever. That was over 30 years ago. I can still remember how I felt before and after the goal went in.
If having this type of moment is enough to elevate a player to best in class, then I had to vote Plett. I had no moments like this with Joe.

If I say that Iginla was 100 % the best player to ever wear the Flaming C, am I disrespecting all the other players that wore it?
I also didn't miss this
and while i agree he's the best to wear 34. by your logic doesn't Jamie Macoun deserve 1%?
If you said that Iginla was 100 % the best player to ever wear the Flaming C then that would be your opinion and not fact. This is why we take other peoples opinion into account.. you don't speak for 100% of everyone but your opinion is just as valid as the 99% of everyone else
My Lanny comment was a joke, I really shouldn't have added it and in all honestly I do hope Macoun receives more then 1%and when he does I won't cry at all when Kipper (who in my opinion best player to ever wear the Flaming C) is not 100%

I'm not disagreeing with the fact that it is my opinion, but according to your previous post, by stating it I'm disrespecting all the other important Flames players.
