So it sounds like play-offs in the US are also blacked out? We missed a lot of games last year with Center Ice - because we didn't subscribe to the NBC Sports Network channel.

So Centre Ice is something you add onto your cable package and Game Center is independent from cable and online only correct?
I've cancelled my cable so I am considering alternatives for hockey. What does Game Center typically cost? Their website has no information on it. Is there a free preview / trail period?

Usually 150 early bird special I think? GC is completely separate from cable, you just need a higher bandwidth internet connection and you're good to go.
And there are paid proxy services out there that can basically tell GC that you are in a different country. Some come with a free trial.

I got every single playoff game last year, using Gamecentre and a paid VPN service. Definitely purchasing again this year!

This was through Shaw both times. Since then I have ordered Game Center and it is awesome. The quality is great even if I plug my laptop into my tv with HDMI. And also as a HUGE bonus .. I can travel and log in from anywhere! As has been said the blackout can be averted by paying a few dollars a month. I haven't done that as living in Van I get the majority of the games without hassle.
I am waiting to see what happens this season but will most likely order it again. Can't beat it.
Also I forgot to mention, I can watch on my ipad or my phone with the app when I log in .. pretty awesome if you ask me!

I thought with the center ice package you got a code for gamecenter as well?
Or maybe you just get a discount for Gamecenter.

With the unblocker on when I order, it gives me the European pricing of $100/year.
Quality for me has been excellent. Couldn't be happier with Game Center

I think Bell or someone may have had that, I remember hearing about it. Shaw did not have that option .. plus I am not sure if GC was available the first year I had CI .. this was about 6 years ago. I only had CI for 2 seasons then went with GC every year since. Can't beat it IMO

This is interesting .. may have to give that a try! Even at the regular price with the early bird I am happy though.

I just cancelled cable recently as well, so I'll definitely be looking at GC as an option. I'd prefer to watch the games on my TV, so I'm hoping the PS3 (or PS4 if I have it by then) will work with the unblocker.
Really interesting about the prices though, is $100 the best price that people have found so far? are there any coupons codes that people have found at all?

That's the cheapest I have heard. My laptop has an HDMI port that I use to hook up to the tv and I get great quality. I just love the ability to log in and watch on pretty much any device that has a browser. Never used a PS3 myself so I don't know anything about it.

Oh, no kidding. If the $100 option ever goes away, I'm still absolutely game. Best money I've spent really.
NOTHING feels better than having zero Rogers or Bell bills.

They do. Some unblockers are browser based, so they just unblock the sites in the browsers. Some are DNS based, so you setup your router for their unblocked DNS and all of the devices on your home network are unblocked.
