Where the heck is the pass interference on that? That was a BS call.

At first it looks like Jabari Arthur trapped the ball but on the replay it shows he caught the ball for a TD. Great catch by Arthur. 28-7 Calgary.

That must be a phantom roughing penalty on kickoff return. I didn't see any infractions and the referee called it on #15. Stampeders does not have any #15 on the lineup.

That first half was the best offensive output Stampeders had so far in this early season. BLM was throwing the ball very well with exception on two high passes(one on Parker and another on McDaniel who tipped the ball to an Ottawa player INT). I wonder if Glenn gave BLM a pointer in using McDaniel a lot. So far the BLM-McD is working great and I hope they keep up in the second half. Speaking of offense, it looks like Mallett got injured and there was no mention of the severity and if he will be back in the 2nd half.
Defense is working well too but Ottawa is also killing themselves with some boneheaded penalties.
It is Calgary 28 Ottawa 7.

What happened to Joe West?
I thought, when he first arrived, he would become a superstar in this league....now he looks like he is disinterested at best....frustrating.

What a throw by Burris!!
Josh Bell is playing like Eric Fraser from last few seasons.

I think he is a little gun shy now because of all those injuries. He played well last week but so far he's been subpar this season. Don't be surprise if he'll be a healthy scratch when Mo Price comes back in the lineup.

3rd down gamble by Ottawa and failed. DeMarco was positioned to punt the ball but every single Stampeder players knew he will throw the ball.

Huf just said that Mallet has a pulled groin, they are not sure how serious it is.

I was wondering where he went, didn't notice him much past the opening drive.
Beautiful evening to sit outside and enjoy a game. As for the game it was a no contest.
The one thing I noticed that bugged me was 5 or 6 times the ref would wait a good 4 or 5 seconds to throw the flag after the "penalty". In my mind if you have to think that hard about the foul it probably isn't a penalty. I didn't like the Raymond PI or the PI that negated the pick for Ottawa and both times the ref threw the flag well after the play.
The first Stamps TD was a beautiful play. Other than a couple thtows Mitchell played well, I'd say his best game of the season.
Ottawa has some good, solid players but they are missing the upper echelon guys. Their OL is a disaster and they need some serious work with their receivers and LBs

Celebrated Square Root Day

Was it just me or did that seem like a decent turnout? I thought we were stuck with 26-27k for every non Riders/Labour day game, but that seemed like a 30k+ crowd to me. I guess we'll see.

I don't buy the ratio argument for Lewis sitting anymore. West has been trash. Throw Fuller back outside and play Lewis in the slot if there are ratio problems...

West shouldn't just be benched he should be cut at this point. Get Lewis back in there and see if he can get open.
If not, bring in Cunningham etc. BLM pretty much has 1 target in Fuller he can trust (Marquay still had drops yesterday) and Parker is a hit and miss.

How much longer for Price to come back? I thought he was supposed to practice last week.

There was talk on the broadcast yesterday that the ankle of Nik Lewis still hasn't fully healed. I agree with the above posters though that I'd rather see Lewis on the field in place of Joe West.

Fuller been playing wideout. It is a ratio thing. West is a wideout and Lewis is a slotback. The guy who's been starting ahead of Lewis, Anthony Parker is also a slotback. I think this is a good thing for Lewis right now so his foot heals properly and 100% then when he and Cornish comes back in the lineup watch out. I can definitely see Lewis dominate when he comes back to show Huf and the coaching staff Nik Nation is not dobe yet.

Fuller played slot a lot yesterday. Sinopoli (unless he is hurt too) and Parker can play wideout as well. It's a ratio thin only in that 4 or 5 other guys have passed Lewis on the depth chart. He needs to drop 30 pounds and get serious about staying in shape if he wants to prolong his career

Lewis has played at around 230-240 his whole career. It's what makes him who he is, a great blocker and hard to take down (2nd down king).
I agree that as he gets older he should slim down a bit to keep him from slowing down too much but his short stocky size is what has made him successful. Maybe lose 10 pounds, not 30.
Once he can fully work past his ankle problems I think he will be effective again.
