You go without a lot of sleep. I took five courses per semester, and worked four shifts a week serving and/or bartending. I'd usually wake up at 6am Monday-Saturday, and allow myself to sleep in until 10am on Sundays. I usually went to bed around 2am. About once a month I'd sleep though my Saturday alarm and my roommate would wake me up around 3pm, so that I'd make my evening shift at the restaurant. It was tough to do, but it was only for 8 months at a time, and then the four months off between school years was easy.
I learned excellent time management skills, and how to prioritize very quickly. I also graduated debt free, which was great, especially when I started articling for $32,000 per year. I have a really good memory, and I'm not sure I could have done it all without it. This is why I intend to pay for the tuition and books for my nephew and niece, so that they won't have to work as much as I did during school.
