This.

Loob played 6 seasons with the Flames; Iginla 16.

Loob lead the team in scoring 1 time; Iginla 11 straight seasons.

Loob was never the captain; Iginla was the captain for over a decade.

Loob was all skill; Iginla had skill and grit.

Loob is a sentimental favorite; Iginla is the face of the franchise.

There's no choice for the best to wear #12 other than Iginla.

I wouldn't know this... because we can't make polls.

edit - Oh, and Iginla!

The tough part about this is that #12 should have been protected after Loob left.

Has to be Iginla, but both should be in the rafters

From the guy that made the call ... I put Iginla way up there in Flames history, there is little doubt. The reason I gave McDonald the star treatment was more about two other factors ...

1) He wore the jersey from the third season in Calgary to the 9th and nobody has worn it since
2) There wasn't anyone of consequence before him.

Loob needs to be in the conversation, and lose the poll to Iginla given his stature.

Voted Iginla, but felt dirty doing so. Loob was a very special player in his own right. It really was too bad that he wanted his kids to grow up in Sweden otherwise he may have become the best Swede that played in the NHL.

I wonder if the Flames could do a ceremony where they retire #12 for two players at the same time? It would be kind of cool to see #12 Loob hanging right next to #12 Iginla, with McDonald and Vernon flanking them.

I think this plays in Loob's favour though, in the sense that it allows people to project based on his 1989 performance. Had he stayed, he could have had down years or an acrimonious departure as with a couple of our stars during that period.

I'm still ecstatic he was a Flame.

Lol that this won't be a 100% vote for the all time leader in every important offensive category and captain for a decade.

Loob was good, sure, but come on.

Absolutely have to vote Iginla, but Loob is worth a 12a. First (maybe only) Swede to score 50 goals.
When Gretzky was asked what was the difference between the 1990 Flames and the 1989 team (after they eliminated the Flames in the first round), his answer was "They miss Loob more than most people realize".

I had to look this up, but yes, he is the only Swede to score 50 goals. Kent Nilsson had 49 one year, Mats Sundin and Markus Naslund also got close, but no other Swede has hit 50.

Loob was great and all, but Iginla is a first ballot Hall of Fame player. This is seriously a no brainer. Anyone voting for Loob is wrong.

That's not how democracy works.

Iggy no question here. As much as I love Loob, I didn't really think twice.

In terms of Paul Kruse, he was one of my favorites growing up. Awesome Middleweight and good team guy. Had a pretty decent 94-95 season too, as he popped in 11 goals during the lockout shortened season and 6 points in the infamous San Jose series (although everyone put up points in that series as we outscored them 35-26). It was always fun having Kruser, Ronnie Stern and Sandy McCarthy in the lineup at once.

If people could vote for TJ Brodie and not get the ban hammer, I am going to vote for my all time favorite Flame.

I really liked Loob. It's a shame he's up against Iginla.

Is Loob a name that would come up in a Best Flame ever Conversation? Probably not, and he's probably not even in the top 10. Iggy is arguably #1 in that same conversation. This shouldn't even be a poll, just like #9 was.

I'd have Loob in my top 7.

Loob was a WHOLE lot better than "good".

I agree Iginla should be the choice here, but please dont dismiss Loob as some bit player....he was as good as anyone on that team.
