Aggo or Roy, who've played zero AHL games you mean? What are you even talking about? Ferland was producing at a better rate than Knight (while 2 years younger) before injury and I bet he would've had a better stint on the Flames considering his skillset and physicality.
Some casual fans in this thread I see....
Honest question for you. How many Abbotsford games did you watch last season? You seem to have some very definitive opinions on a lot of these prospects, and it seems to be mostly based on a handful of games they've each played at the NHL level and some vague stat watching.
In particular your opinions on Reinhart, Knight and Agostino are particularly baffling. You claim to know with a surety that they're all bottom-6 low skill players, despite them proving otherwise at every level so far. You then discount the opinions of several posters who have spent large amounts of time viewing each of these prospects.
To further complicate things you then claim that Ferland has the highest upside of any of them, based I assume on his 15 game hot streak in the AHL. Before that he struggled severely at the AHL and ECHL level before spending an uninspiring year as an overager in Juniors.
Between your all over the map opinions on prospects and your abrasive/condescending posting style it's hard to take you seriously in these polls

I don't know what skill you're talking about. Do you have any video evidence from his year in Abbotsford? I've yet to see that as a major strength in his game, although other aspects of his game are pretty good.
Being that it's the AHL, there's not a whole lot of highlight compilations that people put together. If you go to his AHL stats page, you can see which games to picked up points in and find the according highlight package under the Heat's YouTube channel.
Here are a couple that show his vision and shot, which is some of the best any prospect in this organization has.
Here's a goal of his that shows what he has to offer (starts at 2:57). There was a bit of buzz around the arena for a while after this goal of his where he exploded this water bottle. The scouts even looked at eachother in amazement:
Spoiler!

Don't know too many really skilled tough guys. I think Ferland could be that for the flames and would be awesome on a line with Gaudreau and Granlund while helping protect them. Can't put enough value on a skilled tough guy who's also a power forward, as they are few and far between. If he can even come close to the production at the end of his year before injury I think we'd all be overjoyed.
Another thing to consider when comparing Knight and Ferland is whether or not Ferland would've tailed off at any point during the season. Chances are, it's almost certain he would've. Knight went through a couple of point droughts, but fought through them over the span of a season. Ferland hasn't had to do that yet at the pro level.
Reason I chose Ferland over Knight was toughness. They seem to be similar offensively, but Ferland has the toughness so that even if he can't be a top 6 guy due to limited offensive ability, he could still play a bottom 6 role and be a pest.

What I can't believe is that one of my most favorite of prospects might be getting picked, and I haven't voted for him yet! Really love Ferland. Kulak still gets the slight edge for my vote at this time, but if Ferland makes it, I am sure he will be one of the fan's favorites, even with the upcoming top-end players coming down the pipe.
For me after Ferland's injury he should't be put ahead of Knight. I don't understand how Ferland was injured for almost the whole year and jumps from 26 to top 14 (I have him at 17) and Knight has a great year and goes back from 8 to 14/15

I voted Knight, but the argument for Ferland can be made that he put up 18 points in 14 games ( I think after the Horak trade?) and that there is top two line power forward potential there. Personally, I need to see Ferland put it together for an entire year but I do like the player too.
The rankings each year may not be so much a reflection of the player as it is a reflection of the improved prospect pool. So Knight's "drop" in the rankings this year isn't really a slight on him, because I view this ranking independently from last year's.

To be fair, Ferland had that 'bust' potential that year when his conditioning was lacking. Especially after seeing Howse go through the paces, I know many became down on him (myself included). Before that season, he was looked upon as one of the 'gems' in the pool. Not one of the guys you can bank on in making the team and a cornerstone, but a guy that was looked at very positively. Remember Feaster talking about him saying stuff like: "Ferland doesn't know how good he is", etc. Though he got injured, he came to camp committed and prepared which alleviated a lot of worries, and then went on a great points run until his injury.
To see him jump up shouldn't be a huge surprise. It isn't that he jumped up from last year, it is that he essentially returned to closer to where his ranking should be after dropping the year before.
Gotta love that a guy many were excited about picking up in Knight is in contention for a mid teen slot on CPs internal ranking. I have a feeling we are going to see a handful of "almost there" pieces being used as sweetener over the next two seasons.

i think i might be lost or something. you were asked about the skill of knight, but that marlies heat video is like a ferland highlight package. he scores twice and has a fight. and nothing from knight. am i missing something?
