A bank in Tampa Bay announced that they had hired former blueliner Brian Lee (or something like that) and that he had retired

The Brian Lee you're thinking of, who did have knee surgery last year, denied that it was him via twitter.

Turned out they hired a different Brian Lee and got them mixed up.

That was the last I heard, anyway. Maybe there was a mixup with the mixup.

CORRECTION: Yesterday a bank in FL said former TB player Brian Lee, now retired, was its new branch manager. Tweet spread, Lee denied it... Quote:
Bank error (in no one's favor). Turns out bank Brian played in AHL, not NHL. Different Brian Lee who played hockey. My apologies all around.

Bank announcement was so specific to TB Brian there was little reason to doubt, yet responsible informers should confirm anyway. I did not.

To repeat, Brian Lee who played for TBL, OTT, North Dakota, Syracuse, etc, is NOT retired. Missed last season due to major knee surgery.

Weird. His TSN profile was where I first saw that he retired, either it's true or they fell for the banking story, too.

I hope he's still playing, that means my wild prediction could still come true and this thread will get back on track.

#Canes have signed defenseman Brett Bellemore to a one year two way contract.

@ice_chip
Canes GM Ron Francis says Brett Bellemore has signed a 1-year, 2-way deal. Gets $600,000 NHL, $175,000 AHL.
