haha yeah, I just find MoneyGuy's constant humble brags hilarious. The end part was so tacked on and obvious. He didn't need to let anyone know he flies to exotic locations but he always does.

I'm a pretty good flyer but MH 17 plus a small plane crash that killed 11 people in Poland meant that literally every time I turned on the tv there were talks about plane crashes before my flight home on Sunday.

Not going to lie, probably the first time I had those worries on my mind going into my flight. Once I sat down though it all went away. I guess I fly a lot though.

You have to wonder how maxed out and tightly scheduled these jets are these days.

WestJet had another incident just yesterday where they had to make an emergency landing in Toronto after taking off in Hamilton.

You sit at the airport sometimes waiting for your flight and you see the plane coming in, the people get off, they refuel and restock, new passengers get on and away it goes again.

Maximizing aircraft utilization is completely different from an airline following a proper maintenance schedule. When it comes to both Air Canada and WestJet I am very confident that those aircraft are being maintained incredibly well.

Oh? Its a trend now? I know you have a trend of going to exotic locations and shoehorning that information into every possible sentence, but I wasnt aware that airliners crashing or being shot of out the sky was now deemed a trend...

Plane crashes make people want to talk about their fear of flying. Seems legit.

Plane crashes make people want to talk about their love of flying to expensive and exotic locations...

Anywhere seems "exotic" after Edmonton.

I tend to favour the "Erotic" locations.

saying that this thread has you scared as you're about to take off to an exotic location is a humble brag. saying that you don't care about crashes and love flying to exotic locations regardless is a brag brag.

but yeah this discussion has me all weirded out cause the tone is all over the place. pick somber or whimsical and stick to it, dammit.

Yeah, for all we know he could be talking about flying to Fort. McMurray.

Hopefully everyone survived and the only reason we havent heard anything about it is because they all walked up to the nearest tiki bar and are a few rums deep.

It's Mali, not Bali.

The plane is a MD83, not the A320 as has been reported earlier.

644 have died in plane crashes for the first half of this year, worldwide.

40,000 will die in auto accidents this year, in North America alone.

And how many cars on the road in North America compared to planes in the sky?

This is getting ridiculous.

I'm pretty happy that I'm done with flights for the foreseeable future
