Even mosquitoes, the ones that bite are female. They need the blood to jump start their egg production.

This is simply not true and really only applies to the Black Widow for spiders.
As a matter of fact the two worst spiders you can be bit by are the male versions of the Sydney Funnel Web and the Brazilian Wandering Spider as they are constantly on the move and looking for mates, the male Sydney being more toxic than the female. In most species of spider the female is bigger but no more toxic than the male.
