Picked Poirier but it wasn't easy. Kind of crazy the type of under 25 talent we have in our organization right now. Plus we should be able to add to that over the next 12 months via the 2015 draft, and any trades of veterans this season.
The Under 25 depth chart is good:
Gaudreau Bennett Poirier
Baertschi Monahan Colborne
Klimchuk Backlund Reinhart
Agostino Granlund Knight
Ferland Arnold Smith
BVB Jankowski Hanowski
Brodie Wotherspoon
Sieloff Kulak
Culkin Cundari
Kanzig Hickey
Ortio
Gilles
McDonald
Only really need to add another blue chip d-man prospect. We have the depth but need top end talent on the blue line.

I'll be sticking with Granlund until he gone. I get why people are excited about Poirier though. He looked very good in the AHL and obviously had a very impressive season in the Q. Good size, fantastic speed, scoring touch, mean streak... what's not to like?

I get the sense that it's going to go: Poirier, Granlund, and then either Wotherspoon or Klimchuk.

Klimchuk. He was great in development camp.

I went Poirier too, this next stretch is going to be a Granlund/Wotherspoon fest with Klimchuk Reinhart and the Culkulaks mixed in I think

I think I'd have them behind Ortio and Gillies.

4 - Poirier
5 - Granlund
6 - Klimchuk
Then it's getting close with Gillies, Wotherspoon, Sieloff, Jankowski.

Was interesting ... was looking at all that data when I wrote those draft articles and I was thinking with all the teams added since the Flames moved to Calgary (30% boost), you almost have to abandon rounds in an analysis and go with ranges.
Was going to look at 1-10, 11-20, 21-30 etc.
Niewendyk is technically one of the team's best first round picks off all time when you look at it that way.

I think at this point a good argument can be made for any of Poirier, Granlund, Klimchuk, Gillies, Wotherspoon or Ortio.
Good place to be from a Flames perspective given this is #4 and I just named 6.

Went with Poirier.
I think Wotherspoon and Granlund will be an interesting battle in round 5.

I'd personally have all of Ortio, Gilles, Ferland, Smith, Sieloff, Arnold, Agostino, Jankowski and Knight all ahead of Culkin and Kulak. And I'm not trashing them, we just have that many real prospects to be excited about
The middle rounds are going to be fun, there will be lots of interesting points of view

Poirier plays with that edge this team needs on the wing. Granlund is a very close second for me though.

Granlund has stepped up at every level, and that shot is awesome, but I'm not convinced yet he's better than what Poirier seems to be projecting towards if things work out. Fast, skilled, and a total pest? Yes please! That sounds like a faster Marchand 2.0 to me.

Who do you think would be the LW with Bennett and Poirier? Baertschi? Gaudreau? Klimchuk?
Arnold and Klimchuk had good chemistry, so I am hoping in a few years our top 3 line LW - C is:
Gaudreau - Bennett -
Baertschi - Monahan -
Klimchuk - Arnold -
Possible RW's: Poirier, Backlund, Colborne, Hudler (maybe), Smith, Knight

I fully admit that I tend to under-rate Ortio - but given his progress last year he merits consideration in that group.
Poirier for me this round - things starting to get very tricky though.
