Pffft, I don't know one person that served in the Forces that hasn't been arrested, just means you are enjoying your leave.
"Purple trades are still in full effect. They are usually logistics and belong to the CAF but serve on the ships. They are typicly "day workers" and have been known to "over indulge" in the spirits.

I was kind of waiting for this thread... I want to clarify a few things.

1) Our MCDV's are mainly Reservist Training Platforms. These are kids who come out for the summer and sail and go back to their hometown and go to university or what ever. Your typical weekend warrior...

Im not saying there arent some abusers of alcohal in the reg forces, but we are typicaly much better at looking out for one another and keeping our winger out of "serious trouble"... However, thats not ALWAYS the case.

2) These charges are not new. This all happened back in May/beginning of June. We all knew about on the bases, it was just one of those things that we all looked at as "effin "Shads (reservists) at it again.. "

Im not saying the Zero tolerance across the board is a bad thing.. I think its a good wakeup call to the members of the RCN who over endulge..
For me, its one of my biggest pet peaves.. in my trade, I dont get to drink at sea as im on watch pretty much every 6 hours and am sometimes up for days while sailing. Other trades its easier to get away with and they take full advantage to the point that you cant sit and enjoy a cup of coffee without some person yelling at you to come drink with them.

I support a dry Navy at sea. I just hope this doesnt spill over to our shore leave and cause a "Cinderella Leave" situation where a guy cant get a hotel room for a weekend and be away from the ship at a nice port cause some loser screwed it up for the people who take this job seriously...
