I would actually go watch a T20 cricket league if Calgary had a team, but such a loop could never hope to be anything but semi-professional at best. Most likely, such a league would simply be based around Toronto playing community fields. There is absolutely no way such a stadium project could hope to succeed.

For that cost, you tear down Skydome and build a new baseball/football stadium that is customizable for things such as cricket.

The problem is that a cricket field is much too big for football, you would have to make relocatable stands to make it work well.

This $700 million proposal is nothing more than an attempt to grab headlines that will eventually lead to them trying to build a $7 million facility.

That's what I was thinking of, actually. 45,000 seat stadium for baseball/football. But front rows removable/retractable for something requiring a larger field, reducing seating to 35-40,000.

Of course, some engineer would really have to earn their paycheque for such a setup to work elegantly.

That said, I distinctly remember India and Pakistan playing an exhibition series in Skydome many years ago (mid 90s). So it could certainly be doable with less effort than that.
