Well ... it's working. Messi has long stretches where he looks like he's being shut down until he does something that wins the game.

Its worked against:

- Bosnia
- Iran
- Nigeria
- Switzerland
- Belgium

Hardly a glittering list of powerhouses and likely not a strategy you'd want to employ against Holland.

I guess we'll see. Its unfortunate that De Jong wont be playing. I'd pay good money to watch him dropkick Messi in the soul.

That said, as an interested neutral I wouldnt mind Argentina going through. Germany had no problems with Ronaldo, they could likely handle Messi.

Not sure you get that with Huntelaar.
Yup, they are two different types of Strikers. Hunterlaar is a Fox In The Box that will poach goals while RvP is a twat will bring the ball to the goal.

I know that the prevailing wisdom is that the big #9 in the box are a dying breed, but they have their uses too. Big strikers cause havoc with central defenders.

These two were actually pretty good teams. Belgium especially, who played their best game of the tournament against Argentina. While it was a little early for that generation, Belgium is expected to be a force to be reckoned with in the next few tournaments (Euro's included).

Nigel de Jong in the starting lineup for the Dutch along with Vlaar and van Persie who were question marks going in.

So there is a chance for a De Jong dropkick to Messi's soul!

Has FIFA really addressed head injuries? Dude looked a little dazed but is back on. Tough I guess with only 3 subs allowed and it being so early in the game.
