Do you even have the slightest idea of the change in skill level from the AHL to the NHL?
I know USA beat Soviet Union in the 1980 Olympics, but seriously, Calgary would destroy.

There are 5 misspelled by my count. Think of it as a game and see if you can guess who!
To comment on the actual post, I think the baby flames would get demolished simply because of our lacking Defensive core. They would probably be the funner team to watch though.

I'm usually not usually a stickler for these things, but when you quote someone attacking their spelling/grammar, you might want to make sure you don't make any grammatical errors of your own. Think of it like a game, let's see if we can pass 7th grade English!
To comment on the actual thread, the forward prospects make a game of it, but the defense can't handle the vets. Vets by a field goal.

If this is directed at me, you don't have the slightest idea what you are talking about. The Flames wouldn't care if they won or lost, it's a meaningless game while the AHL team would approach it as a big deal. They could very well win.
Here's the Phantoms beating the Flyers.

Flames use the 4th line for 80% of the game, Prospects all decide to take up another safer profession.

AHL teams have played against their NHL affiliates in the past, and beaten them.
Several Russian/KHL teams have beaten NHL teams, as have other European clubs, and of course the Swiss A League champions Zurich beat the Stanley Cup-winning Blackhawks in the Champions League a few years ago.
Just off the top of my head I'd say NHL teams win probably 3/4 of their out-of-league games. Enough to be clearly the best league in the world, but not enough to be declared invincible.
That said, I think Calgary would wipe the floor with Adirondack.

The problem with such examples is that the other leagues have lots of incentive, and the NHL teams pretty much don't care.
Give some kind of incentive for both teams to try their hardest. That wouldn't stop the lesser league teams from occasionally winning a game, but put them in a series, and it would never be close.

I swear I read some reports in his draft year which said his ceiling was as a second liner. I can't find them now to back me up, but I always thought he would be a good secondary scoring threat, and not our Messiah.
The Flames top 6 in a couple of years could consist of Bennett, Monahan, Gaudreau, Poirier, Klimchuck and Baertschi. He doesn't need to be anything more than a second liner. I hope that makes him take the pressure off of himself and leaves him free to play free of fear.
OP: where would you be slotting Baertschi in? YYC or Addy? Could be the deciding factor...

The AHL team has a chance.
Do you guys remember how close the Canada vs Latvia game was?
That was a much larger difference in skill than Calgary vs Adirondack

The scoreboard would be pretty close (edge Calgary), but Calgary would PUNISH Adirondack so much physically that it's not even funny.
In 2 years time the baby Flames would pwn the Calgary Flames.

The Canada v Latvia game wasn't close at all. Latvia had, what, 3 scoring chances all game? Those 2 teams could play 10 games and Canada would win all 10 of them with varying degrees of victory. Just because the score was close doesn't mean that the game was.
As far as Calgary vs Addy, I think that in a 7 game series Addy might be able to steal a game but Calgary would win the series handily.

Gudlevskis is the only thing that kept Latvia in that game. We absolutely dominated them in every aspect but just had a very hard time getting past their goalie.
Unless Ortio or Gillies plays out of their minds and makes 55 saves while letting in only 2 goals, then maybe the baby Flames have a chance
Even Latvia would take out Adirondack
