It really depends on the questions. First try I got hard questions with large distances between potential answers, and only lasted 4 questions.
Second go I made it to 19, how many KM can you be off when they start you off zoomed in on NYC and ask about a particular bridge.
All it takes is some BS obsucure questions about some hillbilly town in Australia to ruin your whole game.

I got Seattle on three straight questions.
The worst one I got was "You may think this MLB stadium is in Canada, but it's just really far north." Somehow I was supposed to figure out that meant Safeco Field.

Although I guess it depends on how much outside help people are using. One answer was Gangnam District in Korea. I knew that's what I was looking for, but still missed it by 300+km - if I had googled it, then it would have been easy.

I got 26. A lot of it comes down to what questions you're asked - sports teams are obviously fairly easy for a sports fan. In your case I do know that Gangnam District is part of Seoul and that would probably be accurate enough to count. I also do have a ton of useless geography knowledge which helps with this sort of thing. The one that did me in was the location of the Coachella festival which I guessed was in Albuquerque.

25 on first try. I got a ton of questions about American sports teams, where apart from knowing where the Blackhawks play, I knew nothing about. The hints helped me out for the most part on those.

Finally cracked 20... 23.
I got one that I never would have known without being a Flames fan. I had a question about the location of Brown University and remembered that Providence College plays them every year for the "Mayor's Cup" because they're crosstown rivals.

There's a World Cup trivia one where I got 28. Much easier for me, but 4 questions about French football screwed me completely.

29 but my questions were highly focused on the United Kingdom and a smattering of Europe questions, considering I grew up in Canada the UK questions are pretty tough.
Are you guys getting regional questions?

20 but didn't realize you could zoom, and so I was giving away km on the first few questions left right and center.

Mine have been almost all in the States. I've had a couple in Canada and Australia, quite a few in Europe, and only one in Asia.

Hmm, maybe since I'm in Iceland they just default to the UK. Its annoying cause I really lack in their history unless its major events.

you can nail a whole bunch in a row and then lose all your kms in one question. I've had as high as 26, as low as 8. Addictive and fun!

During the first round, the first question I got was a Canadian one.
In the second round, not a single one.
ETA: Once I hit 15 correct answers, the game really slowed down for me. The clue reveal, pin movement, the answer, all of it, just turned glacially slow.

There is a strange randomness to it.
You can have a question where the map is only focused on New York City (so at most you are off by 50km or so), and another where you have all of Asia (so you can lose all of your km in one question).
It would be better if how far off you were was measured in pixels, not km.

Then all you'd need to do is zoom out to get a good score! Of course, the desired responses also vary in precision - I had one where the answer was "Germany", just the country whereas some are looking for a specific place within a city. Lots of random factors affecting the difficulty.
