Only a 2nd round pick for a veteran top pairing defensive D-man to help out Myers or Ristolainen? Amazing pick up from Buffalo's stand point.

OMG...the sportsnet guys are riding him pretty hard about not choosing Toronto. Damian Cox is already getting pretty tedious.

Gorges is always playing the victim card and whining. Many probably think this guy is a great leader because he always plays the Us vs The Media card, but when you look at his playing ability he's a scrappy 2nd liner at best. Montreal seen through his union BS and reading between the lines had enough and shipped him out. A 2nd rounder is likely all he was worth. I'm curious to see who the Habs are going to be going after today.

"I've grown to hate this team. To play (for) them, how could I really go and put my heart and soul into it?"

Sounds like exactly what the fans would want him to be like (i.e. Iginla-Vancouver/Edmonton)

I don't understand why Montreal wanted to trade him in the first place. I can't fault him from not waiving his NTC to go to Toronto. Toronto is a pressure cooker for players the same way as in Montreal, so I am sure that's one of the reason why.... plus Toronto is not much better than Buffalo. Maybe he would rather play with Tyler Myers than playing with Phaneuf.

I hope this means they're moving Myers to Calgary.

John Vogl @buffnewsvogl

According to @amymoritz, Josh Gorges accepted trade to Buffalo because he heard his friend Brian Gionta is also very interested in Sabres.

Wouldn't be surprised to see that signing very soon.

Lots of respect. For Gorges. Loyalty is rare in the nhl today.

Not a huge surprise though, there is a pub in kelowna called sturgeon hall, Gorges is good friends with the owners and there is habs memorabilia of his on the wall, burger named after him etc.

Bar has a calendar on the counter with a time since the leafs won the cup counter. Seems like the guy and his family and friends are habs through and through.
