Fayne is a decent signing for them. Pouliot deal is terrible.

They are easily the softest team in the NHL right now.

Fayne is a good signing, they now have two decent number 4 d men, just need a 1, 2, or a 3 at some point

although they do have those 6 Giordano's just lying around...

Wow. overpayment for Pouliout. The guy is just not that good. Edmonton needed a dman so Fayne is a good pick-up.

Good pick up for the Oilers but it is overpayment and both long terms.

I don't know anything about either. Pouliot is a pretty big guy, does he play big? Fayne seemed like a guy fans wanted to sign here.

Well it's just basic math that the Oilers make the playoffs now.

I actually think Pouliot will prove to be a good signing... I have a hunch he's going to continue his upward trend...

... the Rangers look to be hurting as they're losing many of their players from the Cup run.

We'll see how Fayne does in Edmonton. Much easier to be a defensive player in NJ than Edmonton. But on the surface I agree it does seem like it fills a need.

Although they now have three defenseman making over $3m/year and its debatable that any of them are top pairing guys.

Fayne was a good deal.

Pouliot is ridiculous though. The just gave 5 years and 20 million to their 3rd line LW who was a 30 point guy on good teams.

No. Between him and Purcell the Oilers better hope the teams they play don't want to bodycheck that night. They are going to get pushed around like crazy, they need to find some beef somewhere, soon.

The Faye signing is a decent signing from a player perspective not from a contract perspective. The Oilers were screaming for a shutdown guy and they couldn't rush those kids up. So its not bad.

The Pouliot signing is a head scratcher, a offensive guy who has never broken out, a guy that has gone from team to team to team because he constantly needs to be pushed. He's a big body but another soft body. A 5 year term is baffling.

Edmonton is just plain soft. Faye though will help with their bottom or middle pairing blueline.

Agree with others, Fayne was a good pickup. But 5 years 20m for Pouliot? Yikes.

Yeah I'm with everyone... the money and term on Fayne is okay. But Pouliot... what on Earth was Mactavish thinking?

Fayne deal is a really good one both in term and dollars (considering its bat #### crazy day in the NHL) but that pouliot deal? Oh my.
