That was pretty much the last time I closely followed the WHL and frequently went to games, I loved the Rockets team and the Hitmen with Jones and Kozun. A lot of solid NHL players came out of that team, Benn, Myers, Barrie, Backlund all led that team

Very nice hire. Hopefully this is just stage 2 of his career and he can progress into an NHL head coach. He certainly knows how to coach a winner and hopefully it translates well to the professional game.

My favorite part about this hire is we aren't going for re-treads. We're going out and finding good young guys (Treliving, Pascall, and now Huska) that can grow with the organization as the rebuild progresses.

I'm actually very excited about the direction and make up of the team.........but I'm also getting so sick of the word "re-treads" with it's negative implication that hiring someone with experience is a bad thing. It's not if it's the right hire, just like hiring a bunch of un-proven individuals at the level we are hiring them in at isn't automatically a winning formula.

Not all hiring of people into their first opportunity at said level is going to turn into gold, and not all hiring of experienced people means you are going full Oilers.

Huska was assistant coach for Canada's WJC team in 2011 and 2012.

That's the Pascall connection

You never can have too many good coaches in the entire system. Good move, smart move.

Don't know a single thing about the guy, I like that people pretty much have positive feedback for the guy. I'm excited to see how the baby flames go at the beginning of next season!

Interesting hire. I don't know anything about him, but I guess he would have coached Backlund too...

Can't say I knew anything about this guy, but that is one hell of a résumé. Hats off to Treliving for the hire.
