Hasek (expected headliner), Forsberg, and Modano likely to be inducted; Burns remains a candidate in the "builder" category.

No love for Mark Recchi? He's 12th in all-time NHL regular season scoring (one of only 13 people ever to score over 1500 points), winner of 3 Cups with 3 different teams in 3 different decades with the first and last coming 20 years apart, 7-time all star. Recchi should be a lock to make it.

Hasek and Forsberg are no brainer first-ballot.
Mogilny is an interesting name. Massively underrated player. Had an incredible peak and was over a point a game player in 990 career games (1044 points). He won the Hart, the Byng four times, was the first Russian to defect and play in the NHL, first European captain, first alot of things. That dude definitely deserves to be in the Hall.
Edit: Second most career points for a Russian behind Fedorov.

Recchi was a decent player, but I always thought of him as a complimentary player.

Hasek and Modano are locks. Forsberg is close behind. Fleury should make it eventually, but I think he sits for a few years.

Forsberg may have been the most complete player of his era, he could do it all. Sucks that he was a diver on par with Bill Barber, though.

I often forget about:
- Alex Mogilny
He was a stud. 990 games, 1032 pts.
Olympic Gold, Stanley Cup.
I would vote him before Lindros.

Completely agree. Mogilny was a game changer for the NHL. If it was not for him, we probably do not have the Russian or European players that we do today in the league. And my god, that wrist shot of his. That thing was a lazer.
If not for his bad hip, he would have easily been the first Russian to 1000 points ahead of Fedorov as well as the most career points for a Russian. Out of the big 3 (Bure/Fedorov/Moginly) he was the best of them. It's funny that he is the least appreciated out of the Bure/Fedorov/Mogilny and yet if you ask Bure or Fedorov who the most skilled was out of the 3 of them, both will say Mogilny immediately.
Makes me so sad that injury cut his career short and gave him such an unceremonious exit from the league. Demoted to the AHL, never officially retired for a few years (if he even did yet) but just decided to fade away into oblivion. No final ovation, nothing.
Also to add to the list of firsts: First non-North American to lead the league in goals, first Russian to be named to an NHL All Star Game,

I wouldn't have picked Blake, but the rest seem like the right choices. Good to see Burns in at last.

No love for Lemieux?
- 4 Stanley Cups
- 1 Conn Smythe
- One of only ten players all-time to win a Cup with three different teams
- 9th all-time in playoff scoring, with 80 goals in 234 games
- 10th player in NHL history to win a Stanley Cup in back-to-back years with two different teams
Dirty player? Yes. One of the top playoff performers of all-time? Absolutely.

Nice, I would have picked Blake too, but thought it was a bit too early yet.
Regardless, he's one of my faves, and the type of player I would love the Flames to get.

took forever for Glenn Anderson to get in as well. He always showed up in the playoffs, just like Claude.

I believe in the Jays.

Forsberg & Hasek will be in for sure and I wouldn't bet against Modano. Not sure about anyone else. And FFS put Burns in already.

I know, and this drives me completely bonkers. I mean, I know hockey is a team sport, and it's very difficult for individual players to dictate the success of an entire team, but I still think that the ability to raise your game in the playoffs should be a deciding factor in HHOF selection.
Modano is a guy that was known for disappearing in the playoffs. In fact, his regular season ppg was 91% while his playoff ppg was 81%. That's a decrease of 10% production in games that mattered the most.
For the record, I do believe he's a worthy HHOF inductee, just because of his impact on US hockey alone, I just don't consider him a first-year ballot. Compare him to Claude Lemieux's 4 Cups, 1 Conn Smythe and a career playoff ppg that was 3% HIGHER than his regular season ppg.
I cringe at the thought of Thornton and his 23% (!!!) ppg decrease in the playoffs getting inducted someday.

Personally, I rank Lemieux's playoff reputation right along with Mark Messier's leadership reputation: vastly overrated. In the regular season, Lemieux scored .645ppg. His playoff average was .675. An improvement, but hardly legendary. He had a couple of ridiculous single-year performances (1995 and 1997 in particular), but one of the top playoff performers of all-time? A little bit of hyperbole there.

I wonder if the "Dr Mark Recchi" stuff hurt him with any voters that have ties to the Canadiens organization
I would have taken him over Modano and Blake
Surprised Mogilny didn't get in but he likely won't wait long
next years only slam dunk is Lidstrom I believe, although there is some question about the eligibility of Federov and Pronger who would both also be first ballot guys
