I'll miss Rdio. I didn't use it at the end, but it was my favourite in terms of design and app behaviour.
Spotify
Pros:
Available on my PS4 to use as background music (something I've wanted since the xbox 360 days). Also available in running apps, Roku boxes, etc.
Works often
The Discovery Weekly playlist blows my mind (about 2 hours of music I've never heard of, refreshed every monday morning)
Cons:
No Taylor Swift
I don't love the app
Apple Music
Pros:
Ability to upload local files. Great for bootlegs or bands that hate streaming (which are pretty rare nowadays). Available across all devices once uploaded
Personal songs and streaming songs exist in one place
Some musicians appear to favour it over Spotify (taylor swift, adele, etc.)
Siri integration is great if you use it. I love being able to listen to anything without taking my eyes off the road while driving.
Cons:
Inconsistently buggy. When it works, it's my favourite, but it seems down more than the others.
Some find it confusing as there's a "my music" and an "apple music" section. Personally I don't find it to be a problem, but that's a complaint from many.
It tries to lighten the load with local files, so if you upload something from your personal collection that's on the cloud already, it'll just use the cloud version. Thus, some of my live recordings were mapped as the album version. That's a big problem.
Google Music
Pros
Seems to work the way Apple Music is supposed to work. Upload your library, available everywhere.
Cons
I don't like having to use my browser to listen. Dedicated apps just make me happy.
