Because yeah, that is ridiculous.

- 2 yellows in the same game? Suspended 1 match.
- 1 yellow in consecutive games? Suspended 1 match.

Thats dumb.

Since they reset the card count after the group stage, that would essentially mean you can't get suspended if you don't get a red card. Would be too much.

I think the current line is fine. Otherwise it would be too easy to take a "strategic" yellow card almost every game. Which some players used to do.

It for sure used to be 3, apparently I'm not the only one that missed the memo. 2 in one game makes sense, but with the amount of diving going on in the game, 2 yellows can happen really quickly and are not always justified. At least if it's 3 you can afford one dive.

I forgot that the cards are wiped after the group stages, but even still...with the diving, 2 yellows can happen very quickly and unjustly.

EDIT: Though in Cahill's case, that was a horrible foul and definitely a yellow. Foolish, considering he knows going into the game he's on a yellow.

Is it after the group stage now? I thought it was after the Round of 16? Didnt it used to be after the Quarters or something ridiculous like that?

So RvP is suspended for the game against Chile now? That is so stupid.

Tough call. I understand why the ref called it, I would have understood if he hadn't.

Ball to hand, but the arm was outstretched and potentially denied an opportunity. Kind of have to call that one.

The same could be said for many of the penalties at this tournament so far.
