With the Flames?
David Marcoux.
Currently working as a goaltending consultant for Hockey Canada, and he lives in Calgary if I'm not mistaken.

Urpo Ylönen. He's about 70 now. Doubt he would come here as he seems to like the quiet life.

Well there is nothing left much to say besides I enjoyed Malarchuk's tenure as goaltending coach. Hope all is well with the guy. Best of luck.

I don't know why but he seemed pretty bitter afterwards.
and Jamie McLennan was the goalie coach for awhile too.

I still think they should hire Kipper as the team stretching coach. We'd never have a muscle related injury again!

Marcoux was awesome. If I'm not mistaken he was the one that taught Kipper and the other goalies to watch the replay to see how the goal went in and then make adjustments during games. Set up a system that allowed the goalies to continue to improve, and kept them focused.
Since Kipper though I don't see a lot of goalies actually watch the replay, they just usually put their head down.
Don't know why he got canned. Might be that coaches wanted their own guys in there, I liked him, and I have a hard time believing that Kipper would've been as good as he was without him.
That being said, I wish bad boy Clint all the best.

Maybe we could bring him back in after he sorts out his personal stuff? I wonder if the decision not to bring him back is related to that. Not to speculate... but I would be happy to have him back in the future.

Ramo made some impressive strides throughout the season and Ortio looked far more settled before he returned to the minors. As Clint seems like a really outstanding individual I would like to think he had a large role in all that.
Best of luck, Clint!

I sat next to Malarchuk's wife at a Flames game a while back. This was a couple years back towards the end of the season when everyone was speculating if Kipper was actually going to retire or not.
I asked her if she had any insight into this and she flat out stated "If Hartley stays, he will retire....he hates Hartley...like at today's practice, it was scheduled for 10am and he stood at the gates waiting to step on the ice exactly at 10am. Wouldn't give Hartley an extra minute of practice."
At the time I sort of blamed Hartley for driving Kipper out of town, but now realize that was just him changing the mentality of the locker room and demanding it all from everyone no matter who you are.

Kipper was probably always likely to retire when he did but that's kind of funny if true and seems like Kipper being Kipper.

That was my first thought too, but then again Berra's development seemed more hit and miss.

Thought about that too, but I never really got the impression that Berra had the same pedigree as either of the Fins.

For those who haven't seen it, Malarchuk's had some battles with personal demons, mostly stemming from the incident in Buffalo. If you haven't seen this, really recommend it - ESPN profiled him in a doc called "Cutthroat".

All the best to Clint in the future.

Millions just name-dropped Clint Malarchuk. Apparently he has a Twitter account and a website that's straight out of the 90's:

Only thing I heard was he had a rather large head and thought he should rule the roost on all the goalies and the G coaches in the organization.
He didn't read rule #1 for pro hockey. There is no boss unless you own the team.
