Once you're done qualifying the RFA's it's more like 8-9 million.

Honestly, other then the back-up candidates those guys will probably want term that I'd be entirely uncomfortable giving them.

The only guy there that I'd want the Flames to throw a bunch of money and term at would be Niskanen. R Shooting, legit top 4 d-man, young enough to still be a contributer at the end of his contract and when the rebuild is over... considering the current state of our defense prospects (poor) and how long it generally takes d-men to really hit their stride (longer) that seems like a move worth making. Even if he says no at least we'd jack the price up on someone else.

CapGeek @capgeek
Some tighter estimates on the #NHL's three biggest bonus overages:

BOS: $4.764M
DET: $3.0175M
NJD: ~$2.25M

CapGeek @capgeek
Here are some rough estimates on smaller overages:

MIN: ~$825K
CLB, ANA, STL: $600K-$700K
TOR: ~$475K
PHI: ~$345K

CapGeek @capgeek
Teams not predicted to exceed $300K in bonus overages, if they have any at all: CHI, SJS, TBL, WAS, WPG.

CapGeek @capgeek
Teams not expected to have any overage whatsoever: BUF, CAR, CGY, COL, DAL, EDM, FLA, LAK, MTL, OTT, NAS, NYI, NYR, PHX, PIT and VAN.

This is going to be a big league issue in a few years imo. We're seeing it already, but it's going to be incredibly difficult for teams to trade players or sign even mid range FA's for anything less then 3-4 years very soon......keep stocking up on those draft picks.
