I do agree that Toews will command $8M or more but I would say Kane might get $7M or $7.5M.
We do not live in a world that will see Patrick Kane's next contract be less than Phil Kessel's. That's not how it works.

8 years, 8.75 for both. These guys deliver, they should be the highest paid players in the league.

I'm guessing $8.5-9 for each for the max amount of years. Anything under $8.5 is a great deal for Chicago IMO.

Malkin- $9.5
Getzlaf- $8.25
Perry- $8.6
Lundqvist-$8.5
Giroux-$8.27
E.Staal-$8.25
Kessel-$8.0

That's the new normal. Some people call them stupid contracts, but I feel they aren't out of line with what star players contribute to the team.

I bet the Hawks convince them both to take a smaller contract to help build a winner. 8 x 8 years is my guess. Always interesting when two superstars on the same team have their contracts up at the same time.

Friedman reported a few weeks ago that both were looking at extensions in the 8.5-9M range each

Yeah I would think the deals combine to look something like Perry / Getzlaf, maybe with a couple hundo higher cap hit combined.

Can't imagine less than 8.5/year minimum. If they hit the open market in their mid 20's as free agents it would be a feeding frenzy.

Offer sheet one of them. If that doesn't work, try Seabrook.

12x7

10x7 for Seabrook. Hehe..

(Seabrook is under contract tho I believe..so might have to tamper a bit on that one

Someone drunk on a Saturday? Pretty sure the max you can offer is 7 years (8 if they are re-signing)

You're forgetting the obvious. How do you offer sheet a player who is under contract for another year and will be a UFA after?

I think 8.5 gets it done. They will look at who Crosby and Malkin get to play with and not try to break the bank. I dont know if they go max years though. A six year deal would make Toews a free agent at 32 instead of 34 when the cap is higher and his skills havent diminished. It also gives him flexibility if things dont go well in chicago.

I think it'll probably be 8.75x8 for both.

It's generally not the dough that bothers people, it's the term. Not many people can play like an 8 million dollar player for 10+ years. Even 7 is tough.

I would expect them to come in just under 9 million its in line with other deals signed lately and it gives better public relations for the franchise. Hey its only 8.99 at least it isn't 9 right?

If they were smart they would take less so Chicago can actually build a 2nd line and have better defensive depth, but that probably won't happen so I hope both of them are happy with being a one line team for the rest of their existence in Chicago.
