+1 for Curle.

The man has a great voice and calls a fantastic game.

Curle deserves it. He did a great job with the Hurricanes. Hope he gets it.

Word is that Curle left Lethbridge Hurricanes to line himself up for Maher's spot when the time came.

Yup I remember that too. He has put in his time. Give him the spot.

Yes, he's young and only a few years experience, but he's articulate, he can call a game with great detail, he doesn't use the same crappy cliché's and he spent about 3/4 of the year without a colour guy and still put out great broadcasts.

He also seemed to have a good relationship with the players and coaches despite only being with the team a year and his interviews with the players and coach again, not the cliché things.

If anyone had the potential to be like Maher where he's respected by fans and the organization, it's him.
Didn't think of that, but agreed 100%. Calls games extremely well, very detailed without being boring. Like you can close your eyes and watch the game in your head. Would be a great choice.

I think such a distinctive guy would be great for radio, and he grew on me as a Play by Play guy. But his love fests for players are too much for colour.

And he's been in Calgary close to a decade. Give the man the mic, he has absolutely earned it.
