Hudler, he took Monahan into his home. It should be Hudler unless he's traded. If he's traded then Stajan, let's not give Backlund an A until he does what he did again

No.

I would respectfully place each A on either side of his chest, tell him what a good job he's been doing, playing a solid two-way game. I'd say how thankful I am for his passion and his continued inspired play, how his leadership and play will be important for this team as it attempts to move forward.

I wonder how many Assistant Captains the Oilers will have this year. 6 was clearly way too low.

At least 7 after they slap one on this year's first pick. Why choose when there's so much exciting young leadership to spread around?

I'd like to see Backlund get an A this year, but I could see a rotation between him and Stajan. Which I'm totally fine with.

C - Giordano
A - Glencross
A - Backlund

Or,

Gio, Glencross, then Backlund at home, Stajan on the road

I'd imagine that it's pretty hard for Hartley and Co to deny Backlund at this point. He demonstrates everything necessary of a quality captain - good two-way play, constant improvement, logged the third most ice-time of Flames forwards this season, and continues to increase his level of truculence

I think they go with Stajan, Backlund, Glencross and another player, perhaps a UFA signing or McGrattan.

So most are agreed that Backlund deserves a letter. Then who gets it when he heads to the KHL mid-season?

Gio with Backlund and Glencross.

I see alot of hate on Glencross based on the last season, but truth is when he is on there is almost no other Flame that plays with as much heart as he does.

If you are talking about heart, you should never be using the "when" qualifier. Players with heart always play with heart.

Agreed. I am a huge glencross supporter, but if we expect continued success and a "no passengers" system we need guys who lead by example

It will probably be a UFA that we bring in, and like I said I'd wait tonsee if Backlund can jhave another year like that. Hudler's the right choice IMO
