There are a lot of big tenants in Calgary (the sorts who are courted for the newest buildings) who were burned with weird floorplates in "progressive" designs in the past as well. The most efficient use of space typically ends up being a giant square box. Those who pay rent typically like getting the most efficiency out of their floor plates. The Bow is very nice, but there are still a lot of issues over the floorplates there, as there was in Canterra, etc.

it's their culture, they have that drive for perfection and collectivist pride that Canada really doesn't have. More freedom comes with less public displays of wealth.
