I feel that this team is starving for players like Granlund and Gaudreau. Creative players with high offensive potential. I believe that Johnny G is the one they will want to start in the AHL and get a bit more seasoned before calling him up. Granlund has already shown he is adapted to the NA pro game and so he has an advantage.

Not trying to elicit a bunch of dreamy lineup charts, but who do they replace? Galliardi is probably one. Reinhart can fill that role. But you can't stuff Granlund down on the 4th line skating 10mins a game. Bit of a logjam in the 2nd and 3rd line mix. Although I guess our first line is hurting.
No chance that our 1st rounder this year stays up with the club.

I went to Hockey DB and looked at times the AHL appeared and it was 4 (they have 2 for this year), but I forgot that Reinhart played a few games at the end of the season a while back. I thought 4 sounded wrong.

Granlund really looked good this year - probably substantially better than anyone expected. But I think he gets another year in the A (with callup time) to over-ripen.
Reinhart looks ready to take a bottom six role. He probably starts in the A, IMO but I think he works his way into the bottom 6 this year.
As for Granlund passing Baertschi, there is no question that Granlund had a better year. But I fully expect Baertschi to answer back this fall. I think they both spend time with the big club and in the A.
IMO, only one or two of the young guys 'make the team'. I think they will all go to the A together to continue to develop and grow together.
Next year is going to be even better than this year was on the farm.

To early for a poll. I highly doubt that Burke and new GM don't pick up a ufa or make a trade to take a spot or 2 away. I certainly would like to see at least one spot open for a youngster but that might not happen. If there is a spot it's going to be war between 4-5 youngsters. Also as others have said it will depend where in the roster the spot is available.

I guessed that Max makes the team out of camp and that Granlund gets send down...but not for long. Might be one of those situations where he gets sent down while they can make a deal to make room for him to be in the NHL full time. Training camp will be great this season.

I voted that both get sent down but spend most of the season with the big club.
Like KootenayFlamesFan said, it'll be a temporary situation to try and make room for them. Granlund and Max made the AHL look easy this year.

Not even an option "neither makes the NHL for any notable length"?

I think Reinhart makes it and Granlund's cut but is one of the first call ups. He's a utility player like Byron, can slot in any line and look like he fits. Paid his dues in the AHL.

I feel Reinhart would make the camp since he could play on the energy line to start the season, while Granlund should join later on after injuries knock down some of the starters for a while.

Why would that be an option? Both have had great success in pro hockey. Granlund didn't look out of place in the NHL before his injury. You'd have to be pretty pessimistic to think they don't have NHL futures. Granlund may have passed Baertschi as one of our top couple forward prospects. Reinhart looks like a lock to play some sort of role in the NHL with his versatility and skill.

Yeah, but it's not that pessimistic to think that they might both need one more year in the AHL. I don't think that myself, but it probably should be an option on the poll.

Didn't see a poll I really liked, so I voted for both of them making it.
I would bet Reinhart makes it out of camp. A bigger question mark will be if Granlund is physically ready for the NHL next season. Probably will be, but I do expect Treviling to sign a free agent or two. Still, they were both very good in the AHL and should definitely be pressing for NHL full-duty.

I think Max Reinhart will be with Calgary Flames next season. They might start him in 3rd or 4th line as a winger. Granlund will start with the AHL and so as Sven and Johnny. Then at some point in time, all 3 will see actions in the Flames uniform.

If Cammalleri leaves in free agency that may open up a spot for Granlund and after a few years in the AHL it appears to me that Reinhart may be ready to graduate to at least 3rd line duty with the Flames. At lot of this will boil down to how good they look in training camp if they make the team to start the season but I feel both will play a fair bit of games with the big club one way or another.

Id love to see Max play full time with the big club for sure next season with hopefully 2 of Granlund, Beartschi & Gudreau pushing for full time work as well. Move out a David Jones if you have to make room for the young guys, even at the expense of wins.
If we can get the youth some full time experience and a top 5 draft pick again next season we could be primed to sky rocket up the standings in coming years.

I voted Granlund makes it, Reinhart down. It wasn't because I think Reinhart is the lesser player, it was because how they were used when called up. IIC Granlund seemed to solidify a spot until he got injured while Reinhart was sent down as soon as he wasn't needed.

Because both Burke and Treliving want the Flames to get bigger by surrounding the smaller skilled guys with beef.
I see Treliving trying to remake Calgary's bottom six into a big unit with guys like LA's Dwight King and Kyle Clifford, and neither Reinhart or Granlund really fit that mold. If they can't break into the top 6, there may not be a spot.
