I know. It looks just like a prefab Super 8 motel being built.
And for some reason it seems silly to have so many garage doors.

All that money, and no taste.
For that much cash, you could have had so much better of a plot of land.
At least it'll be easy for Flying J to take it over.

Probably a few too many rooms when you're renting hourly

That massive house being built on HWY 22 between HWY 1 and HWY 8

This comment almost makes me think I should stop referring to my mid 300k's home (a staggering 1250sqft on the main floor with a finished basement) as my palatial domicile when showing friends around on their first time.. Almost. But that term is too bad ass to not use.
Thread is gold though, the super 8 and Stephen King comments were mint.
Does the place really have 9 garage doors though? I regularly dream of a lottomax win and a batcave-ish underground vehicle storage area accessible by a regular looking double garage door.

Money doesn't buy taste as we see time and time again. What an eyesore.

Clearly its Bruce Wayne relocating Wayne manor to Calgary.
Finally we get the hero we need right now.
Maybe he'll run for Premier.

I think we all know the story line on this one. Magnate loses his shirt after the Chinese market crashes or is forced to liquidate his holdings after being put on the "outside looking in" by Communist Party bosses.
This place then gets sold and turned into an upscale bed and breakfast / conference center. Bet you he stays a grand total of 5 days there.
He probably has some playboy son that will come by and race cars a lot - I'd camp outside the place with a laser unit If I were the RCMP and needed to make budget...

I have a coworker who lives out near Bragg Creek. He mentioned Jim Shaw is building a huge house out there. Not sure how this one compares

That's a house?! Drove by there last month and just thought it was a weird place for a hotel/condos. But a single family home?

We live in Redwood Meadows and drive by both of these monsters every day. The Shaw place is set back further west and has an epic view of the mountains which this new house lacks. Other than that they are both stupid big...its like comparing a Bentley with a Rolls...I can't even wrap my mind around that level of hedonism.
This new place has been in the works for years, the lot was being prepped years ago and then (not surprisingly) work ground to a halt with the financial crisis until a few months ago.

One big door and some windows would give it a bit more class...cheaper too.

yeah, a garage with room for 8 cars and one entrance would look so much better and be more convenient to use.

We drove by this a couple of weeks ago. So frigging butt ugly - and just sort of plopped down in a bare field.
I wonder if the gatehouses are for the inlaws to live in...

They planted a few trees and installed that wrought-iron fence a few years ago and than that lot sat vacant. I acutally thought they were going to put a funeral home/cemetary there. Still kind of looks like something that could be easily converted to a McInnis and Holloway in the future.
