It was Mumps, I remember as I decided to get the shot when I heard PAINFULLY SWOLLEN TESTICLES was a side effect of getting mumps. It the mumps issue hit all major Alberta post secondaries, I believe that it was stated as being spread by our sports teams.
I also think that anyone who got that shot also got a measles booster in it as well, but don't quote me on that.

Knowing when you went to school, means that you likely got the MMR shot when there was that sports team from another school (UofA ? ) that came to UofC and went all Typhoid Mary on us.

I was reading an AHS Facebook post about the outbreak, and the comments were awesome.
People were actually posting stating that they didn't want vaccinated kids coming near their non vaccinated kids, stating that it was the traces of the virus from the immunized could "shed" onto other children, I assume by huge games of "Oookey mouth"

So if for some reason you lost your records for shots you can call this number 403-214-3641 and they can mail them out to you or you can pick them up at the Ranchlands Clinic or Sheldon Chumir (Beltline) when they are ready.
The mailing option is taking about 2 weeks.

My wife and I (who have a three month old daughter, who can't be vaccinated yet) thought this was a pretty good video done by Penn & Teller on Vaccinations.

FYI: its around 30 minutes long

Just checking the relevant sites, if you were born prior to 1970 you should have immunity. No vaccination required.

This is how the old people retake the world.
We went to our secret labs under the country kitchen buffet and debated how to thin the herd of younger people, especially those damn hippies. We decided to use a disease that we were immune to due to our draconian immunization laws back in the 60's where were promised a trip to disney land and instead got a 6 inch across sharpened pike rammed into our shoulders.
Then as old people we had tea and a quick nap while watching PBS, then we released the one disease that we knew we were 100% immune to.
young people suck

Nobody has blamed the TFW program. So, this conversation hasn't gone completely insane yet.

This was the part that caught me off guard. Dug up my old records and, lookee here. Turns out I only got one shot growing up. Guess it's off to the clinic I go.

If I die from the measles I will be sincerely disappointed.

Is that only for people who would have received their vaccination in Alberta? I am pretty sure I was immunized, but it would have been in BC.

Does anyone know when they started doing 2 doses of the vaccine in Alberta? Was it right away when the vaccine was introduced or sometime later?

I would think some time in the 80's?
I had to order the MMR vaccine in for my children, through their pediatrician, and pay for it out of pocket. I think it was $20 to $30, something like that. It was not available free through health clinics at that time.
However, by the time my children were in school, which was the 80's, the vaccine was administered in Grade 6, and I think one other grade too.

Ok, thanks. Maybe I should actually get a copy of my childhood vaccination records and check then since I don't quite make the 1970 cutoff for assumed immunity.

The line-up today at the North Gate immunization clinic was over 2 hours long when I got there at 1:30. I left.
But in better news I brought the baby back at 5pm and only had to wait 30 minutes. I'm not sure if today was all the anxious parents (like myself) rushing to get this done, so the clinics will be less busy next week or what. If the media really ramps the alarms bells up the immunization clinics might get busier. Either way, pack a lunch and iPad just in case as it might be a long wait.

My wife went there early and only had to wait 30 mins as well. Baby is now ready to go fight those other babies who refuse to get shots
