It makes me think that there will be some compensation going the other way.
I can't say that I am pleased or displeased. I'll have to wait and see what he can do.
Has there been any mention as to whether there are restrictions concerning the draft, as he would likely have inside knowledge on the Coyotes?

The same way Craig Button wasn't allowed to influence who we drafted when he was first hired. Pick off the scouts' list, no deviations, only trades.

I've been confused about a new hire not taking part in the draft. When teams are so far apart in he draft why would it matter if the new hire took part for his new team? in ARZ's case, drafting 9 spots lower shouldn't have any affect on Calgary's decision process. I get it in the case of a team picking closer or lower than the team the hire is coming from then yeah.

I honestly dont know this guy at all, so nothing against the hire but can someone let me know what this guy has done to make us confident in his ability to sign our talent to reasonable, fair deals, while having outside players WANT to be a flame? Because if I think about the Coyotes, outside of the Smith acquisition, have they acquired anyone worth mentioning?

Dallas did it with Craig Button when we hired him. He wasn't allowed to participate in the 1st round that year.

There is more than one round and after the first round everything is a crapshoot so nine spots won't mean anything
